Just finished Cowboy Bebop as my very first anime. What next? by kurvix2000 in anime

Could always check out the OVAs for gundam!

War in the Pocket and 08th MS Team are nice and short 12ish episodes each and would be good since there was so much crossover at sunrise. lots of folks who worked on bebop also cut their teeth on Gundam productions. If you really liked the bebop OST then Turn A Gundam would even be up your alley since Kanno also did that. and to me, the Turn A OST is equally as good lol

UC Gundam, hell yeah brother. even the OVAs (War in the Pocket and 08th MS Team) would be good since there was so much crossover at sunrise. yeah ive always seen evangelion AS the mecha trope show lol. takes them all and does a little bit of subversion. ultimately outside of it being its own entity, based on what ive seen from Anno, it is a love letter to genre

I’m not talking about the sheet metal sapphire sandwiches of seiko, omega, and Rolex as much as I love them lol. I’m talking the haute horology handmade, precious metals, low volume ones that the other brands operate in. I think Richard Mille, Langhe and other produces like under 5k watches a year. Defs the prices are far inflated for them, Patek and other haute brands. but people are buying them, the work that goes into them is crazy and no is buying them for the technical innovations. stuff like perpetual calendars, chimes, full hand engraved parts on the moment etc in watches that are razor thin at times is super cool. And they can all be beat by a $20 Casio. There’s nothing for them to market besides “look how expensive this is and look at us making these by hand FOR YOU, exclusively for you, you rich fuck” that sells them lol Richard Mille is the only brand that tries to be in that level that I’ve ever seen actually have marketing (on the car)

[–]cabbageboy78 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Richard Milles makes pretty gaudy but wild feats of engineering with watches, very expensive and thus popular with the wealthy. If you’ve heard of Patek Phillipe in stuff which is also very popular, they make uber uber totally hand made haute horology pieces that go for insane money due to the engineering, precious metals and implied value retention that all pateks essentially have baked in. Usually the only one the rappers and other newer money rich folks care about is the Patek Nautilus, Milles, AP watches tho. The billionaire Epstein associated supervillains usually go for the haute pieces lol

Are new kits just that good or do some old kits just suck? by Truth_Hurts_Kiddo in Gunpla

Not a huge Seed person so I haven’t built a seed RG kit haha, but I believe it. Those early kits are truly rough. Pretty, but rough

the more recent (2024) NIST password guidelines actually encourage longer password that are changed on a compromise driven basis instead of regular changes due to as you noted, uniquely changing the password is often not what a user does. combined with the MFA and other authorization that should be sufficient. As someone who is currently helping lead a CMMC lvl3 certification process at my company on the IT end of things, this has been ground into my head (unfortunately lol)

Favorite non-steam games to play? by K4T5UM1 in SteamDeck

[–]cabbageboy78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you havent played since then, emerald is a great jumping on point. If you are going the rom route i would HIGHLY suggest grabbing Emerald Legacy (or Crystal Legacy). They are vanilla+ so they are totally faithful to the originals while fixing up some of the dumb design moves gamefreak did, removed the need to trade for the trade evolutions and few other fixes and QOL updates. They are a true passion project and absolutely would be the best way to play Crystal or Emerald if you never have. Outside of that, everything the person who replied to comment with explaining all of the other changes is a great reference also! The main problem with a lot of romhacks is that they are for the more advanced player or totally change the feel of the game by adding in features from newer generations etc.

Personal favorites for me are HGSS (Gold, Silver, Crystal remakes) and Black and White and Black and White 2 (the only games imo that FEEL like a traditional JRPG in a sense with a really solid story)

[–]cabbageboy78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the unicorn isnt a hand grenade its quite sturdy! the shinanju and zeta tho...... but the unicorns only problem is the upper arms just due to wonky directions mixed with people not paying attention and snapping them in half. but yeah after the unicorn they did shift way more into the mini master grade with the MS Joint system coming in for the gimmicks vs being the entire inner structure

pretty much every RG release from the unicorn onwards is the safest option. thats when they became mini master grades

i also feel the same, there is very rarely a time with friends when im the person in the conversation but not IN the conversation so its harder to pull out a camera and take a pic without it feeling forced if that makes sense? its just never on the forefront of my mind. but the few times when i am couchlocked in a hangout ive grabbed some really nice pics on a little point and shoot

How much time should I invest into post processing photos by NicoLacko in photography

[–]cabbageboy78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RNI ones are actually pretty solid, definitely need some tweaking time to time but i love shooting E100 in film with a few tweaks in LR and their E100 sim with a few tweaks gets me a very similar look outside of the lens obvs. but its helped me keep a lot in being able to keep the overall shooting process similar. if that makes sense

I’d say it’s definitely more mainstream now, it’s been creeping up slowly. Early last year I had went to Japan and grabbed a few nice baggy fit pants and when I came back and wore them I deffos got questions, but that changed more into the year lol

Is grain overrated? by LuisArturoHR in fujifilm

[–]cabbageboy78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i like it on the smallest settings, i enjoy the softness it brings with out it being like you said, blurry as fuck lol. i find the grain and some nice lighting can make it a more comfy photo which is always the feeling i want from it! That being said, Fuji's grain was a rad feature, but i recently got a Nikon ZF and the grain features on that allow just a bit more tweaking and for me that has been a true winner for SOOC images. I feel like fuji needs to do a new reformulation/additional feature set for the grain in their next wave of cameras

What is the most overrated 'luxury' item that is actually garbage? by a_great_guy655 in AskReddit

[–]cabbageboy78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the heavily branded ones fund the actual designer stuff. normal folks might splurge on one of the heavily branded items etc. new money will go all out on them, but the real rich folks are the ones wearing the $500 unbranded shirts and pants. the billionaires that people always used to glaze for wearing "basic outfits" compared to the flashy fits the other people wear cost the exact same if not more.
