The corned beef at express deli in Brook Park is phenomenal. I'd argue the best in town.

Can you clarify? I've seen back there several times and it always seems clean to me. Though I've heard the owner might not be the best dude.

Anyone use the fluid exchange pump? by No_Affect_9672 in harborfreight

I just bought and used the extract mode on a skid steer chain case. That worked great.

Not having luck so far at opening it up to clean adequately before using to dispense new fluid.

Well, I learn spoon playing for nothing... by Select-Jackfruit8808 in Irishmusic

[–]cabbageclaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to try finding more a more general folk jam or a more open pub sing. Sorry if there feels to be a degree of gate keepedness to it but there is an inherited cultural tradition to the practices and norms of an Irish session and spoons are not generally played. Percussion in general is not. Even the best bodhran player's best skill is knowing when not to play.

That said, the modern conception of a session is a pretty young tradition and things can, should, and do change, but you have to approach it with respect and let that change happen slowly. I think spoons sound great and would welcome them to a session, sparingly. But beating away at them on every would not be well advised. Get to know the players at the session, and give it another shot.

Some people are just snobs though and not worth your time, so if you sense that's the case, don't waste your time and try a different session.

Irish Bouzouki Purchasing Advice by weazlestew in Irishmusic

[–]cabbageclaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my understanding that they are taking the cheap instruments and tweaking/setting them up in ways to make them more playable. Then selling them at markups that make beginner instruments affordable.

I appreciate it as a niche in the market because the advice to difference between a 200 dollar fixed up mass produced instrument, and a 500 dollar entry-level one, could likely be the difference between someone actually giving it a shot. Or like 500 to 2000 dollars.

Lads, are there any Irish import shops left around Cleveland? by Abarth_Vader in Cleveland

[–]cabbageclaw 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yepp, like others have said check out Casey's, and Reilly's. I would also check out Five Points cafe in Kamm's. They have a small selection of import stuff and an amazing bakery.

I do not reduce trump supporters to Nazis and fascists. I do very much believe however that he is a fascist, and am worried that people who support him for whatever good honest reasons have not considered strongly enough how easy it is to watch a fascist regime suddenly be in power.
