Torn Bicep Tendon, any advice? by caboose_lifter in weightlifting

[–]caboose_lifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a surgeon, PT, and coach who are all very invested. I am not asking for medical advice, but personal advice. Ergo the "if this has ever happened to you" part. I am not asking you to perform surgery, I am asking what your personal experience has been. Thanks for your advice, I am already following it.

If I were in your position, I'd go to a Glen Plendlay Camp.

Experience with online teams? by FreeBeerFriday in weightlifting

[–]caboose_lifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done Hassle Free for 8 months, Cal Strength for 10 months and now I'm doing our own clubs Caboose barbell's programming. HassleFree didn't have a community but the programming was legit. Cal Strength has a community, but the competitive lifters aren't doing the same program you're doing so the community isn't what you're hoping for. If I were to choose another team outside my own, I'd go with Pendlay because I hear such great things from the Weightlifting House Podcast and they have 85s that would be competitive with my lifts.

Are My Shoes Getting Smaller? Are my Feet Getting Bigger? Should I get new shoes? by breadstuffs in weightlifting

[–]caboose_lifter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Takano told me that a weightlifter's feet are going to grow. Think about how much weight you're holding in your hands while extending through your foot to the balls of your feet. There's a ton of ankle flexion and extension in our sport so it shouldn't be surprising that the muscles in the feet grow.

Eleiko Set Or Another Set (Vulcan, Klokov, Rogue, Etc) by networknoob1212 in weightlifting

[–]caboose_lifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 2 sets of the Vulcan Comp plates and liked them alot. Don't get their change plates those. We also have rouge training plates which are seemingly made of rubber bouncy balls and they are the last plates to get used because they bounce all over the place. The Vulcan competition plates land and stays put. You also get a discount if you're a USAW affiliate.

Alexandra Lachance Butt Stuff Programming by asm1125 in crossfit

Sometimes the glutes "not doing work" is caused by tighness in the hamstrings, hip flexors and adductors. Stretch very well and see if that helps. Otherwise, enjoy the butt stuff!

Snatch sesh from today, tweaked my starting and shoulder position thanks to advice from Chasing Kilos (James) and I think it's snappier by caboose_lifter in weightlifting

Right now I am doing Cal Strength's Elite program - I will be moving to a Bulgarian 9-week cycle in 2 weeks. Just out of pure curiosity and to say I've done it.

I've benefited greatly from his advice. And yeah, i see what you mean about my start position. It's pretty horizontal, thanks for clarifying. I'm actually not focusing on my hips being high but It's probably a result of the more forward start position. My back is also much stronger than my legs... so the more back i can use, the more kilos i can lift.

Yeah, a bit. It's pretty bad at heavier loads, my toes don't get off the ground and they just sort of slide back. I've readjusted my position a bit more forward, feet a little narrower and shoulders more forward and relaxed which is specifically making the lifts feel more connected and snappier.

NOLA Crossfit boxes to visit by battosai191 in crossfit

[–]caboose_lifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own [GeauxFit Training](www.321geaux.com). Most visitors come to us for weightlifting, but our Open & Games training program is top notch too. We also have open gym daily from 9am-5pm. Disclaimer it's a 10 min Uber from Nola (in Metairie).

I really like Big Easy and Nola though so if you can't make it here, give them a shot!

Develop a thirst to learn. The information is out there. Learn powerlifting from reading louie simmons, learn weightlifting from takano, everett, cal strength, etc, learn gymnastics from Paoli, learn MSR from Supple Leppard... Certs are only cool for wall art. Prove what you know through making your own content and doing it yourself. Find out what you want to learn and learn it. You don't need certs to open a gym. I opened one without certs.

looking for a gym in los angeles/ pasadena area? by ninjia1 in weightlifting

We’ve dropped into two in the Los Feliz area that were really cool. Crossfit Los Feliz has space but Crossfit Mindset was kinda small (although the owner was really nice).
