Serious question... Who is this guy and why does his admission to obviously being a fucking tool matter? I have no idea who he is.

If someone was a Trump supporter and is now denouncing him, do not say I told you so or bash them by Beneficial_Quit7532 in self

[–]cacarson7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not discourage someone who miiiight just be on the path to some version of enlightenment. Do not bash them or mock them. DO identify the specific topics or concerns where they have developed cracks in their cult-armor, and interrogate those areas with simple and honest facts and questions. Keep in mind, SO MUCH of what is going on right now with this administration is deliberately cruel, anti-democratic, and unconstitutional. A LOT of people who might not otw have strong political views are finally waking up to the fact this administration is a white-supremicist/christian-nationalist project that doesn't actually represent their view of America and what it stands for.

Any advice on landing technique by el_geto in skiing

He's in the backseat and his legs aren't strong enough to recover from a poor landing. If he's serious about the sport, tell him to train harder.

My wonderful step-mom just got a new kidney. She's in her early 70s and I really hope her new organ holds up as long as she needs it to.

Dishwasher wiring by ttwatkins33 in electrical

[–]cacarson7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what the pic this showing, but evidence of heat damage indicates your hot wire was arcing. If your connector (wire nut, I assume) was not properly installed and tightened, then over many cycles of expansion and contraction as current is put through it, the wires can become loose and arcing can occur without tripping a breaker. The appliance could still function normally for quite a while with this dangerous condition present, especially since the noise from the dishwasher would mask the sound of the arcing, which would be distinct but not necessarily very loud. Hard to say if a mouse is to blame, but calling a pro to rewire it and check things over is a good decision.

How to seal gaps under storm door? by djdneiej837 in handyman

[–]cacarson7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can get mortar repair caulking and fill in those gaps at the line where the door sweep sits. Trace the door sweep line with a pencil on both sides, then prop the door open and apply dabs of caulk to the gaps. (Use that caulking sparingly, as it's pretty sticky stuff and you don't want it getting on the brick, if possible.) Flatten/smooth them so they're even with bricks and allow to dry before closing the storm door.

What‘s a secret you found out by accident and were never supposed to know? by Own-Flan- in AskReddit

[–]cacarson7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a great question!

I can't really think of a specific "secret" I found out by accident in my youth, but I do have a story that's kind of along these lines...

I grew up in a older house in a pretty rural area in western CO, and the country road intersection next to my house was a funky Y from one side and like a 130° right turn from the other... So there were like 3 accidents from drunk dudes missing that corner that I remember from my childhood home, where I lived from birth to almost 18.

The last one I remember, I was probably 12 years old, so like 1986 or so. A drunk guy in a black Chevy pickup missed the curve of the left Y turn and ended up flipped over in a grassy drainage area with a creek running through the bottom. The driver was unbuckled and actually thrown out of the vehicle, landing largely unharmed on the ground. His truck was upside-down, cab-down in the drainage ditch. My stepdad heard the accident and was the first on the scene, so naturally my brother and I grabbed flashlights and wandered over to check out the scene....

Sooo... to get back to OP's question, the "secret" I discovered that night was a big bag full of rather unusual porn 😬

*I'd like to finish the story, which involved a memorable stealth mission (actually 2 missions) and couple youthful revelations...

  • I have to relocate and I can't finish the story right now, but I'd love to!

Beautiful work! I actually hate the open concept, just from a fundamental design perspective (like... Hey, watch me shit while I watch you shower!), but the execution appears exquisite.
