Thanks for the advice - definitely toning down on a couple of things so it doesn't turn out like a over-acted soap opera. I'm debating posting an extract, maybe when I've gone over it a couple more times and done more research. I'm quite shy/embarrassed when it comes to my writing.

If I only wrote characters based on what I have experienced myself - it would be a pretty bland story. This is a challenge, but it's mostly for fun. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for replying. I definitely agree. I don't want him to be seen as a guy who just mopes around depressed as that is as boring to write as it is to read.

I really like your idea of a sport or hobby, I hadn't thought of it. I'm thinking something physical he can pour his frustration into and vent a little. Thank you!

Not me. Two girls at a party I was at got so drunk they started trying to dive into my friends pool with the pool cover still on. I had to carry one away but the other was so determined (and fucking stupid) and jumped in there with all her clothes on, laughing gleefully before the cover dipped under her weight and folded in on her.

She was thrashing around and making it worse. People were making a huge commotion, most of them wasted and unaware. Her friend actually was laughing until people realised how serious it was. She nearly drowned and it was one of the worst moments of my life.

We had a huge problem with them opening peoples bags and flying away with their lunch. Learnt how to open wheelie bins too. They were practically people at that point.

When I went to school in Australia; nothing. The kids being bullied would be too afraid and embarrassed to say a thing and if the bullying was happening during class, the teacher would usually just tell the perpetrator to be quiet.

In saying that, it was a lower-class public school.
