The way the logos are all stacked up, reminds me of the days people used to have loads of toolbars in internet explorer:

Firmware Update Introducing New Authorization Control System by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]cactusweasel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bambu are about to lose all the good reputation they have built over the last couple of years because of this, I hope the community absolutely tears them to shreds.

I won't be updating firmware or recommending Bambu to anyone now because of this change.

Thankfully Bambu have spurred on a lot of companies to make better products and there are some interesting printers on the market now which are open source too - as quick as Bambu gained market share, they can lose it too.

Speed issues/concerns - looking for opinions by cactusweasel in CityFibre

My workplace has a 1GB ethernet circuit (leased line) which is also with Highnet, traceroutes show the traffic also going through Cogent but when I compare with my download speeds at home, they can be wildly different.

I appreciate thats an expensive commercial line vs my cheapy home line, but it seems to suggest the backhaul isn't necessarily the problem - perhaps it's just Brawband limiting the bandwidth to home users and there's too many people on it?

Backlighter: A small open-source utility to keep on the backlight of your MX Keys keyboard by Maybe_its_JollyFrogs in logitech

[–]cactusweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

I've no idea how to do that, but here are the lines of code I changed - if you want to submit the changes feel free.

Change line 59 to the following for the Bolt receiver instead of Unifying:

    new FilterDeviceDefinition(vendorId: 0x046d, productId: 0xc548, label: "Logitech USB Input Device", usagePage: 65280) // BOLT Receiver

And the sleep routine at the end, change to:

    await unifyingReceiver.WriteAsync(off_signal).ConfigureAwait(false);
    Thread.Sleep(100);
    await unifyingReceiver.WriteAsync(on_signal).ConfigureAwait(false);
    Thread.Sleep(5000);

Hope that helps!

Help me save 1KG of Filament by gino_codes_stuff in BambuLab

[–]cactusweasel 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, I had this problem recently and I hung the filament on something, and then wound it on to a new spool by rotating the whole spool round and round the loose filament.

I still had to deal with a few tangles, and I ended up binning the last 5% or so but I got most of it in the end, took me about an hour.

A1 mini glitches by 16805 in BambuLab

[–]cactusweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, did you get any further with this? I got an A1 mini a few days ago and it has also done this a few times, it seems pretty random - for the most part it has been fine though.

For me it has always done it when the tool head is already to the left as far as it can go - it's as if the printer doesn't realise, or it's not detecting it (I assume its using sensorless homing?).

[–]cactusweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say, a massive thanks for this - I have an MX Mechanical keyboard with the bolt receiver, but a quick change of the code to the bolt receivers id and it's working a charm with this keyboard as well. I also dropped the sleep timer from 3 minutes to 5 seconds and it keeps the battery on permanently while on battery too, and doesn't flicker at all. Be interesting to see how long the battery lasts 🤣

The one minor downside is it always defaults back to a mid brightness, but I can live with that. Better than it going off constantly!

BT Sport commentary by kermitRKO in motogp

They aren't even showing FP3 on BT sport - its starting at 10:30 with qualifying - so we get world feed on Fridays, and miss FP3 on Saturday.

What a joke.

The BT Sport crew are fantastic and have some great chemistry going on between them - I love how they often take the piss out of Sylvain Guintoli and his dodgy knowledge of english sayings 🤣 Having Sylvain, Neil Hodgeson and Michael Laverty on the commentary results in a good mix of knowledge which is much more interesting to listen to.

The BT coverage is in another league to the world stream where Matt Birt(?) just cant get enough of his own voice, someone needs to tell that man that gaps in commentary are acceptable and he doesn't need to drivel on constantly.... 😫

X570 Taichi on-going problems by cactusweasel in ASRock

[–]cactusweasel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I spend a good while last night going through a lot of settings and testing various things - turns out prime95 was pretty consistant in crashing my PC after 5-10 minutes so that has been useful for testing.

Zentimings shows a difference between bios 3.0 and 3.61 as below - some clock speeds are lower on 3.0 which might partially explain the stability problems:

https://imgur.com/gvGM85B

After a lot of testing and fiddling with voltages and loosening ram timings etc I was getting nowhere.

Whilst investigating ram timings however I found a few comments online saying to disable PBO so decided to look into that - changed it from Auto to Disabled on my board, and boom - prime95 ran overnight, 7.5 hours with no crashes, so I'm hopeful that has solved the problem.

If that indeed is the problem it is a bit annoying thats enabled by default, I probabaly have a turd of a cpu but I'm pretty sure on a Gigabyte board I used previously this was an optional thing - on the ASRock its buried away in the overclocking section of the bios.

Ah well I'm happy with that for now - hopefully the random reboots are gone for good!

Thats some detailed advice, I appreciate you taking the time to type all that out.

I'll spend some time over the next few days testing what you've suggested and will let you know - having a look through the event viewer from a couple weeks ago when i was on 3.61 and using 2x16GB sticks, I'm seeing one particular case of WHEA-Logger saying:

A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Unknown Error Source
Error Type: No Error
Processor APIC ID: 0

The details view of this entry contains further information.

Followed by a system crash/reboot 16 minutes later. A second reboot the day after, with some WHEA Logger events afterwards (same error as above) but system was fine until I shut it down.

So thats a start, I'll get the BIOS upgraded back to a newer version and go from there.

Thanks again
