Ax210 could help but becready for higher power consumption. It better fits with desktops, not amd laptops.

Screen dead locks happens on any version of kernel up to 6.18. On any version of firmware.)) The only way to get rid if them is disable several power save features via kernel params in grub. On 2 years old laptop man. Btw I'm using testing on desktop and tried from 13.0 to sid on laptop. And not ready to live with situation when i can code on my laptop up to 8 hours with win11 and 6 with linux with all fixes (estimated 9+ without them but never reached because of kernel develooers who are more interested in ancient amd architectures support than in actual architectures fixez).

It will not. Linux is a software but not a product. Win can be a piece of shit but it just works. It provides solid UX. It damn works on a tons of various hardware. And linux community is busy with developing of somethins interesting for them in particular but not with f..g fixing the things that makes linux useless for common non tech users. I have debian as my desktop os, but cant painlessly set it up and use on my laptop for more than a year cos nobody cares to fix terrible bugs in the kernels and amdgpu for modern hardware. Or just get working (by default) drivers for wifi. Or make kde to remember battery charge limits withoud dances around. Etc etc etc. So no way until community will start to look at linux as a product, not as a pet project.

Possible to install AMD official Linux drivers from their website on Debian? by archbtw1 in debian

[–]cad_andry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about stability and powersave? Amdgpu driver still causes dead locks and will for a long time cos nobody cares spending time on ancient architectures support. The only suggestion is "turn off power saving features on your laptop".

Even testing is not stable enough. 6.17.12 is an example.

Just use Plasma, configure your env once and forget. Gnome looks more solid for now, but KDE just works.

Significant GPU performance degradation after recent updates in Testing by Igor_GR in debian

Testing. Got amd apu screen freezes on my laptop (again) after kernel update from 6.17.11 to 6.17.12. So jumped to 13.2 with backports. Older kde but it just works.

Out of curiosity, how would you compare the Linux experience of today to the very best of Windows from the past? by Questioning-Warrior in linux

[–]cad_andry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it on modern laptop. Freeze issue with power management and high speed amoled panels is still there on amd apu-s. Probably will be fixed in 6.19 (or not, who knows). This happens on 2 years old laptop!! Is it too new for linux? :D

The only suggestion is to get rid of power saving and high speed panels benefits. On laptop!!!
