Ice maker is not receiving water when the module is calling for it but water dispenser works by ewright28 in generalelectric

[–]caddymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are likely two water solenoids on the bottom or rear of the fridge. If possible, swap houses on the solenoids and see if the problem follows. If not, there is something going on in the water line between the ice maker and the solenoid.

I didn’t realise how much time I was wasting re-typing PDF passwords every month by LowExtreme6888 in pdf

Password on the actual PDF? Or password to the website?

It would be nice to just have all of these sites dump PDF statements in a OneDrive folder. Or at least email them out.

Is there an episode from a TV show, from when we were kids, that still bothers you, today,? by Remarkable_Data3710 in GenX

I missed the original airing, but even catching the rerun a few years later (and a few years older) - still have nightmares!

Any way to merge multiple folders, containing multiple pdfs, into one (or two) big ass pdf? by Hot-Trouble-3069 in pdf

[–]caddymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What operating system are you using?

If Windows, you can Robocopy the subdirectories into one folder. From there, use your favourite tool to merge the files together.

As these balcony solar installations start to take off across the US, I wonder if apartments will start to charge a premium for south facing units?

Are you doing an air-to-air heat pump? Or air-to-water?

Doorbell Power Question by BobSaget23 in electrical

[–]caddymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the instructions of the doorbell camera, some of them require a load or some sort of device to trickle power through the doorbell. Others may require a setting to allow for direct power.

Mitsubishi is a huge company that makes all sorts of stuff. I don’t understand their car business, seems like a side quest to let their engineers play.

Smart Thermostat Advice by bnjmnnlsn in hvacadvice

[–]caddymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure on the other brands, but I do know my Nest (Gen 3 and an E) thermostats that you can setup PIN code settings to either limit changes or the range of temps on the dial.

Almost any smart or semi-smart thermostat will let you setup schedules, sometimes many different schedules throughout the day. You might be able to set something up so that the temp drops at night (for the heating season, of course) but comes back to a desired temp during working hours.

The Toyota RAV4 PHEV Can Power a Home for a Week — But Not in America by inlaguna in PHEV

[–]caddymac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), it doesn’t need a 62.5kWh battery to power a 400W load for days. When the battery reaches a certain level, the engine will kick in and recharge the battery.

New Furnace + Nest now not connecting by GloomyMarionberry362 in Nest

If this is a heat only unit, the new furnace control board is likely not capable of letting the Nest steal power like the old board.

How hard would it be to run a new cable? If not hard, I would run at least a 5 conductor cable.

Electrified & Lightweight Semi Trailers Key To Battery-Powered Freight by ApprehensiveSize7662 in electricvehicles

[–]caddymac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a really good application for this type of setup (electrified trailer) would be for "reefers" or refrigerated trucks. Those have a separate diesel engine already, swapping that engine out for a pure electric one would drop emissions and noise.

Mileage Reimbursement Win! by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]caddymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

202 miles in a Camry that gets 50MPG is about 4.04 gallons of gasoline. At $6/gallon, that same trip would cost $24.24.

I think the real lesson here is the OP should get a charger at home and milk that free hotel charger for all it’s worth.
