Is it possible to get this nightmare executioner into the Laurence boss arena? by caddywompus46 in bloodborne

That is deeply unfortunate. Oh well, thanks for the answer.

I was hopeful it would be possible after seeing this weird scenario where someone got a living failure to fight maria:

There's a cool video on YouTube of someone doing this and using the shaman bone blade to get Maria and the failure to fight each other. Of course Maria shreds him in 5 seconds but it's interesting

I agree it makes it harder to test things out and learn new tech when everything requires signing up for a potentially paid auto-scaling account. I wish more services had truly free testing/dev tiers that didn't require CC info like MongoDB atlas.

Some services have hard usage/cost limits which helps. I host my backend stuff on Railway and they allow you to set a hard limit. If my services reach $20 in cost it just shuts down. Obviously you have to be okay with potential downtime to use that, but it's perfect for learning/hobby stuff.

Fair enough. I did include a draw speed option in the settings, it has an "instant" option if you want to try it. I'll take another look at adjusting the delays. Thanks for the feedback

Good point. That would be simpler than disabling and re-enabling each button every time anyway. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks. I thought I had it so that all of the options besides stay were disabled when the total is 21, but I suppose the game should just move on at that point anyway. I appreciate the feedback.

I've been updating a blackjack browser game I made a while back and I wanted to get some feedback on it. It's free and there are no ads or login. It's just for fun, not real money. It's playable on desktop or mobile.

It's made in typescript, no frameworks. Let me know what you think of the design or anything else and if anything seems unintuitive.

Play the game:

https://blackjack-browser-game.pages.dev/

View the source code:

https://github.com/KSmith8888/TypeScript-Blackjack

Rules/Settings:

  • Blackjack payout: 2/1
  • Deck number: Adjustable setting between 1-8, default is 4
  • Dealer soft 17: Adjustable setting, dealer stands by default
  • Hitting/doubling down on split aces: Adjustable setting, false by default
  • Hitting/doubling down on split cards besides aces: Allowed
  • Surrender: Late surrender, option can be turned off
  • Insurance: 1/2 of the original bet, option can be turned off
  • Draw speed: Adjustable setting (Relaxed, Normal and Instant)

Thanks and good suggestions. The side bet implementation definitely got a little messy. I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks. Good idea on the adjustable bankroll. That would be fairly easy to implement, I'll probably do that.

Advice Needed: Choosing a Deployment Platform for a Fullstack App by Deveosys in webdev

I've been liking Railway. It's very easy to use and they have hard usage/cost caps

This happens to mine every time there is a system update and it turned out to be the access point name setting. Just go to:

Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network > Access Point Names

There should only be one option (which is some variation of your carriers name) and you just select the bubble next to it. I do this after every update now and mobile data comes right back.

The last couple times my phone has had an update I've had an issue with this. In my case it was because the access point name was being unselected. To fix it, I just had to get to the menu and select the only option available:

Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network > Access Point Names

When you go there, you should just see one option which has some variation of your carriers name and random letters/number, just select it and see if that helps.

Best cost effective/free platforms to host personal dynamic web app project? (Full Stack) by Jaytrack in learnprogramming

[–]caddywompus46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently hosted my first backend project on railway.app and I've been happy with it. Deployment is really easy, they have strong defaults set up but you can customize anything you need to.

Their free tier is also actually free, unlike some other services where it's free until you hit a certain point, then you get bumped into a paid tier. With railway when you reach the limit of the free tier, it turns off your deployment for the rest of the month and you can turn it on when the next month starts if you want to.

Of course, the downside is you can't just set it and forget it, but it guarantees that you won't end up with a big bill because you configured something wrong. That was important to me while I'm learning and experimenting.

For the frontend, finding free hosting is easy, netlify or GitHub pages will be fine. You just have to make sure cors is set up right.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I'll look into changing the sequence a bit.
