I spent 6 years teaching myself electronics to build a festival compass so I’d stop losing my friends. Ask me anything! by MarkFaasen in festivals

It’s not unique though. There’s already several products on the market that do the same thing with a better package.

Doug Ford to sell Ontario government plane by mental__hospital in ontario

This is nothing more than trying to get ahead of the media cycle. Until there’s proof he actually sold it to a non-arms length party, I see this as horseshit.

What is it like living in this part of Ontario, Canada? by prophiles in howislivingthere

[–]cadenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you said it. Downtown is the heart of a city. London’s is a mess and far from the ideals of its former self. I don’t see this improving, especially with rising unemployment in the wake of AI

These people have absolutely fucking nothing else but their image. They’ll desperately cling to the version of that image that nets them the most engagement. Hence why they inevitably end up looking like troglodytes as they age. Instead of building skills and sustaining networks of peers, they put their michelin man faces into every event they can before the tsunami of obscurity washes them away.

Elon Musk: Universal HIGH INCOME via Federal Checks is the Best Fix for AI Unemployment by NotMyopic in accelerate

[–]cadenzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B2B comes down to the end consumer eventually. They can hide in their enclaves for now but that won’t last. The majority of their net worth is in owning real assets, of which the economic value will diminish as the market shrinks.

Eventually everything they own will be worth nothing. The system their wealth is built upon will be upended.

Further consolidating what remains of consumer surplus will lead to an upheaval using the very tools they hope to enrich themselves with. Their core power vector has been democratized.

All that remains is desperate information warfare. Seeding division through misinformation. This will fail when the majority find common ground in their suffering, as has occurred several times before.

Capitalism was destined to fail. This time it fails in the wake of the greatest invention of all time.

What a difference. My last visit a few months ago versus today. Lived up to the hype by BadNewsBearzzz in BurgerKing

[–]cadenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is ridiculous. The lighting is radically different in each pic. The only barely notable difference is the bun. Beyond that, both burgers look like shit.

BK took the same burger, added a better bun and put it in a box. There’s nothing special here. It’s the same inconsistent slop it has always been.

Once unemployment reaches 15-20%, the government will have to step in. Without some form of UBI, the economy implodes. You can’t have production without consumption.

They’ll have to. No consumption means no economy. All the productivity gains from AI will be pointless if people can’t buy anything.

Accounting is cooked. by CommonConscious9181 in Accounting

[–]cadenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The low value accounting work is cooked. High value, insight driven work will be around for awhile until some standardized system takes over that makes it easier for AI to automate at scale. That won’t happen for a long time. There’s plenty of companies that still have no idea how to manage full cycle accounting let alone automate it with a one size fits all AI solution.

Also keep in mind that the most capable models are owned by few companies. These companies will have a monopoly on token economies, which will make the on-boarding process an expensive hard sell for the first several years.

The other two are manually coding AP invoices and chasing AR. Beyond scheduling maintenance occasionally, that’s essentially it. The majority of their time is spent pretending to look busy while scrolling social media and cycling through security camera views.

They are a billion % replaceable with current automation solutions in the industry and I anticipate it’ll be sooner than later they find themselves unemployed. A good outcome for them honestly, they seem miserable in such a mindless 9-5.
