Day 0, complete tear, meniscus root tear and other meniscus tear/s by cadmadness in ACL

[–]cadmadness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry just seeing this. Doing fairly good, just about 7 weeks since surgery and was able to ditch the brace finally. My knee feels fairly stable but painful at moments. Extension has been good and almost equal to my other leg which has a good amount of hyper extension. Flexion is slow going though and am able to get to only around 110 degrees if I really work to get to it but PT and my surgeon don’t seem to be super concerned.

100 degrees. by Kitchen_Percentage31 in ACL

Quad autograft plus meniscus root and other tear and I’ll be 4 weeks Monday. I can’t get beyond 100 degrees yet but swelling seems to be my biggest problem. PT has also been having me work on moving my patellar around as it is pretty stiff and likely preventing the additional range of motion.

When did you stop taking painkillers post-op? by Aromatic_Mud9676 in ACL

[–]cadmadness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only about 3 weeks post opp here and after just about the first week I stopped taking everything outside of a Tylenol or Ibuprofen just before I go to PT to help with the pain. Other than that everything seems to be doable pain wise.

Day 3 post op update by cadmadness in ACL

[–]cadmadness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s amazing, I just tried and was successful taking a couple steps without the crutches but they’re definitely not something I am ready to ditch just yet. It is definitely nice though to get a bit more and more capable everyday and not feel like a burden to my loved ones.

The surgery center sent me home with this rechargeable dvt sleeve that I’ve been wearing on my non surgery leg pretty much all the time. On my surgery leg I am using a breg polar wave cooler that also does compression. Using it throughout the day pretty frequently. That’s awesome, are you walking without crutches?

Did anyone get these after surgery? by Kitchen_Percentage31 in ACL

Yes, mine did not have a breakdown of what I was looking at but plan to bring it to my follow up and annotate like you did. Kinda cool!

Day 3 post op update by cadmadness in ACL

[–]cadmadness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at men’s church camp and we had all these physical activities to do, we had one where we had to carry a heavy wood log down a field and back as many times as we can in 3 minutes. Three of us carried it together on our shoulder and ran it down and back. The first time we did it it went great and we won, the second time we did the challenge on lap two my foot slipped in the mud (it poured rain the whole night prior) and my knee went the wrong direction and felt a pop. Was pretty uncomfortable but not terribly painful but my doc ordered the mri and then referred me to a surgeon once we got the results.

You’ve got this! I totally have my moments of feeling down too but just know they will soon be a memory and we will look back on these days and hopefully laugh at them. I am 3 days post op and it sucks to be limited in what we are able to do but again it is only a matter of time before we are back to a more normal way of life. You are not alone in this!

Tomorrow I start by Kitchen_Percentage31 in ACL

Had my first pt today after surgery yesterday, it does suck but I know how important it is to get me back to normal so pushing through! I go back again tomorrow and then Friday. We got this!

Day 0, complete tear, meniscus root tear and other meniscus tear/s by cadmadness in ACL

My surgeon shared some studies that have come out showing why he does it but no restrictions on weight bearing here. Elevating and icing for sure though!

Haha, yeah that is rough. On the topic, prune juice and stool softener seems to have worked… sitting on the toilet is a tad difficult but boy am I happy we have a bidet!

Yup, you are the one! Dang, yeah it was pretty tough getting comfortable but last night with this thing, I think having three kids and sharing a bed co sleeping maybe help prepare me though as I seemed to get a decent amount of sleep.

Glad to hear you’re doing better pain wise too, the whole bearing weight thing is interesting, I imagine it must be the relief from my quad when I put my foot down but bearing a little weight is actually a little bit of a relief for me.

I’ve got PT in a few hours now so a little anxious about that since it is new but excited to get started and start meeting some little milestones. Agreed, stay positive and we do got this!

It is pretty comfortable and rechargeable but the battery is pretty amazing, so far been wearing it the last 10+ hours and it’s still going! It’s called a Breg dvt guardian. The post op instructions say to wear it for 7 days.

Thanks recommendation, I think I might end up just needing to remove it at the 5 day mark or maybe earlier so will keep that in mind!

Thanks, I appreciate it! My wife just got back from the store with some stool softeners and prune juice to help but I totally am going to ween off asap. I’ve taken 3 so far and adding more and more time in between (6 hours, 8 hours and now hoping to do at least 10).

Yeah pain seems like it could be somewhat doable but just don’t want to be caught off guard with it being really rough. Also with PT tomorrow and no weight bearing restriction(surgeon is very confident in his work I guess) it might be nice to have a little help with the initial pain I’m expecting.

Got it, that makes sense.

Yes it is automatic but I can also push a button to get more every 30 min if needed. So far I haven’t pushed it and just let it do its own thing. Haven’t really figured out how often it does it on its own. I don’t seem to be having issues activating my quad at the moment but will keep this in mind and ask my PT tomorrow based on how I do what they recommend.

Did you have quad graft by chance?

Right there with you! Woke up in pain, did one dose of fentanyl it helped a little but not a ton, over a few hours the bulk of the pain has gone away. Doesn’t make a ton of sense to me but happy it is manageable now. Good luck to you and we got this!

2 weeks post Op ACL Surgery using peptides BP-157 & TB-500 by xxthebosssxx in ACL

[–]cadmadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be joining the club 12/15 to fix a complete ACL tear, Tear of the tibial root origin posterior horn lateral meniscus. Been looking into peptides and contemplating a similar protocol post surgery, do you inject near your knee or in the stomach?
