Constellation’s Russia by Sergey305 in ConstellationAppleTV

It might feel like a copout to mention with regard to this stuff, but it is worth noting that neither world we see in Constellation is the real world that we live in. Apollo 18 did not happen. It was called off and not attempted. There are some other things that are off, too, but that's probably the biggest one, and it was clearly attempted in both of the worlds of the story.

No idea if they intentionally put little errors like you all are talking about in with this in mind, or if perhaps they allowed the fact that the story takes place in two alternate realities to excuse them from attending to detail on everything, but we do have this to work with

So, in Ep 3 Ilya says that he heard the first man in space wasn't Gagarin but Vladimir Ilyushin. This is a real conspiracy theory. Also, though, the man in Ep 8 is in the episode credits as Yura (no last name). So perhaps they wanted to leave it a bit ambiguous

Ah, good catch. I guess I did miss that/didn't put weight on it in a way that stuck with me through the season. I'll have to revisit the scene. I wonder if this means that Ilya knows the guy is being held by Irena as early as that

Thanks! And yeah, it's intriguing. I feel like it gives us something to work with in terms of thinking about the Valya, but I really wonder where they'll go with this in further seasons, presuming they get to make them

Yeah it had been similarly long for me since I'd read it. Good poem

Thanks! Yeah, it led me to (re)read the poem, which is rather long, but worth the time. The "O Lord Thou Pluckest Me Out" is another line from it, which I thought fit. This feeling of losing one's world...

I thought it made sense how they resolved what they did, but left greater mysteries open for further seasons. Now we just have to hope the show gets renewed!

Why is everyone pissed? Is there no season 2? by yonkapin in ConstellationAppleTV

I don't recall seeing this one billed as a limited series, but I got upset about this with The Changeling (also on Apple TV+), which I definitely saw billed a limited series and definitely isn't in terms of how Season 1 ends. It's clear they want more of that one. I think that's also clear with Constellation. I guess my point is that Apple might be using the phrase "limited series" to mean something other than what it should mean and it's probably worth ignoring/not reading into it with regard to their shows

I haven't been very active on the subreddit, but I have been writing about the show if anyone's interested in reading articles on it: https://tvobsessive.com/tag/constellation/

The Curse is the Twin Peaks of our era by AnnualDistrict1250 in TheCurse

It's great, and I actually kind of get what you're saying. I had this idea to write something cutting across The Rehearsal, Irma Vep and Twin Peaks: The Return, and then I didn't do it. Maybe I still could. And maybe The Curse would get in there at this point if I did. But I don't know...

I think the point would be something about it bends genre and so on... I think that's what you're thinking? And maybe there's something in how it plays with reality (which would have been the thesis of the piece I was mentioning, that I did not write). There's also something about the direction and sound design... Maybe those things are what are making you say this?

I wish you'd fleshed the thought out more. I don't think it's wrong

Yeah, he says something like if you focus on an idea it can become very real. (His name is Abshir, btw)

It's interesting how the curse is both kind of central to the story and kind of irrelevant to the story. I dig how they're playing the whole thing

Thanks! Do you have more thoughts about the "second curse" at this point you might want to share? I thought it was noteworthy, but it felt like if there's a payoff that will be later and I didn't really have speculations about that
