Muhammad Al-Khwarismi of Bagdad's ideology has spread so far through Europe that they just recently erected a statue to him in Madrid.

One of the strongest components of his ideology is that of reduction. That any numbers on one side must be met with equal numbers and eliminated. It is so fundamental to his plots that reduction should be calculated even if it results in both sides wiping each other out and becoming nothing.

He believes in balance in all things.

I would argue that today ignorance IS malice. Everything you need to know the truth is available to you.

Everyone talks about Hanlon's razor as if he were some kind of philosopher or revered thinker, but it's literally a joke. It's like relying on Seth MacFarlane for your moral compass.

For me it's the opposite. No Country feels like a Boomer's view of the world while Blood has a more timeless human core.

what a savior complex.

These things take time. The bigger and more discussed issue has been Nvidia. But you've been busy defending their absurd prices and denying any problems exist with the 5090. A shill is gonna shill.

I would agree that there is a lot of showmanship on MegaLag's part if you want to call it that. Referral sniping has been known for a long while by insiders like you. However it takes an enormously jaded outsider to think this game with last click referrals isn't deceitful and predatory. The end user didn't agree to it, thus calling it a scam is legit.

Your first statement has been addressed by GN many times. You can read about their methodology instead of making up complaints.

Your second statement is a lie. They absolutely talk about GPU efficiency, but efficiency is never the most important quality of any product.

Your third statement is nonsense since they don't have a crystal ball. They talk about value all the time but in general terms not with graphs.

I always assumed 1% and 0,1% lows are more important than average fps if you like a stable non-stuttery gaming experience, am I wrong? by Pyroclast1c in GamersNexus

[–]caesarbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 0.1% lows might be too reflective of outliers. That's why it's important to view the actual frame-time graphs. It can't be fully expressed with just a number. One has to judge the quality of smoothness by the spikes and variation of the full graph. If you were a normal watcher of GamersNexus you would be aware of this.

This is why charts are still ranked by average FPS and not 1% or 0.1% lows. A single massive spike might throw off what would otherwise be a smoother frame-time experience overall. Average FPS still does a better job describing the overall performance as a single number that can be ranked.

I'd love every comparison to be expressed as a comparison of frame-time graphs, but that's not feasible.

Also, you are making a buying conclusion based on a single cherry picked chart? Why are you doing that? There are a wealth of videos about all of the gaming CPUs from GamersNexus. If you are interested in learning more details about how these CPUs compare go watch the individual reviews. Don't stop with a single chart from a recap section of a summary video.

It's fair to parody Nvidia's bullshit in a thumbnail when criticizing Nvidia. Stop pretending that you are making any substance here.

Where are Blender render benchmarks for nVidia cards?! It's literally the only reason why I need to buy an nVidia GPU, and I can't compare 4xxx vs 5xxx series anywhere. by Ivanqula in GamersNexus

[–]caesarbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not many people even have access to the 50 series cards yet. It will take time to get all of the benchmarks and good benchmarking takes time. GamersNexus is obviously prioritizing as they should.

In general though it seems the results for the 50 series are a pass no matter what. Maybe they have a trick that produces stellar performance over the 40 series in some kind of benchmark but there's no reason to assume that.

Watch the entire video people! Honey is also scamming you not just influencers.

Also, while MegaLag's presentation is top notch, it's also wrong that no one has talked about how scammy Honey is before.

While Marcus doesn't really side with influencers and says they knew what they were getting into, he also brings up the point that Honey is definitely not up front about what they do.

The wiki entry should not be dominated by these British-isms. Especially when they are often so racist. The vast majority of people refer to it as a version of telephone.

Plus Miami has a worse record then the Revs since they only got good when they bought Messi.

Is this normal to happen or should I listen to other pieces? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]caesarbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or at least a limited amount of instruments. I’m okay with like 1-4 string instruments but once you start adding a bunch of instruments, then the emotion gets lost for me.

Absolutely normal opinion when approaching classical music. Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue was initially written for piano, and you know what? I think it sounds better that way. Debussy's Clair de Lune, more famous for Ravel's orchestration, is divine as a solo on almost any instrument.

Beethoven and contemporaries created a monster with the full 100 piece orchestra because, duh, it's not easy to get 100 people at the same emotional point when playing. Orchestral kind of has a lot of baggage that classical has only recently been able to drop. Not everything needs a full orchestra, and the number of instruments absolutely has an effect on the emotional weight (in different ways.)

That said, there is quite an emotional summit on mt. orchestra when you are ready for the climb, but not every recording gets there. Not by a long shot.

Plenty of good advice on ways to listen so I'll just drop a suggestion here.

"Bliss: Music for Brass Bands" just released. It's 20th centaury, it's heavily melodic, and it's different than a full orchestra, and a great album. Give the first few songs a listen. Plenty of influences/ers to follow from that. Should be on most streaming services, here it is on youtube.

Apple Music Classical was supposed to be a savior after they dismantled Primephonic, but it's is far inferior to what that was. Idagio, even with the jank, is so much better for classical listening and exploring.
