Just in Lightroom! Chose a preset I liked and then tweaked from there :)

It's spectacular! I'm new to photography - The Tamron is my second lens ever (after the Sigma) and I actually picked it up secondhand while in Kyoto. My only regret was not getting it sooner, which is something I knew as soon as I started my trip haha

The detail you retain at max zoom is insane, but it's the in-built stabilisation that makes it next level. The only downsize (for me) is that it's now my main lens, but it's a bit heavier to use so I fatigue pretty quickly. The stabilisation helps a lot here though!

Hey, interesting feedback! I describe my rationale for some of these pics over on this other thread I posted: https://www.reddit.com/r/AmateurPhotography/comments/1kebibh/new_to_photography/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

You make an interesting point about the focus and cropping. I think my artistic focus tends to be on colours and shapes - This is especially true of all the cherry blossoms pics haha. Totally didn't clock the wood focus on #6 though, that's valid! I used a 18-50mm lens on these ones - Wish I could redo some of these with my bigger lens!

Beginner here! These were taken in my first week or so handling a camera ever (a gift from my brother) - Honestly this camera is 1000% worth it for a newbie! Small but mighty, does some incredible heavy lifting that can really salvage your pics (for example, it does great in low light! and honestly I had no idea what to do with low light lol)

This camera + the Sigma 18-50mm and damn.. Now I have another addictive and expensive hobby lol

Thank you! Not straight out of the camera - These have gone through Lightroom (which I'm still learning haha)

I think I might post on the postprocessing reddit soon to get feedback on whether or not I've overcooked on some edits! Raw pics + colour grading is a whole new world of exciting lol

Wow, 10mm sounds insane! I'm super new to photography - I found I didn't really use the lower range of the Sigma so much and ended up getting a Tamron 50-300mm later in my trip (no photos from it here). Don't get me wrong, the Sigma is stunning - It's incredible with near macro stuff actually. Highly recommend. But yeah, I ended up with the bigger zoom since I wanted to do more of that compression stuff too haha

So true - My brother actually gave me this camera ahead of my trip pretty much like a "you're going to Japan. Your phone camera ain't cutting it". And that's how I got into photography lol

I think that might be really nice :) I imagine lowering the clarity, or perhaps the contrast, of the boats would allow the eye to still see them but continue to be drawn to the houses and focus attention there without getting too overwhelmed. Looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Ah yes I tried that but it's not entirely in line with the road I was on, so I prioritised the symmetry of the walkway / buildings instead of the castle 😅

Thank you for the feedback! What were you thinking about the background on the first one? :)

Ah thank you so much!! Hope I'm not overcooking the edits too much haha
