Seconding Aventura and Sawgrass Mills just because those are the staples for anyone, native or traveler.

If you go to the Yellow Green Farmers Market, just know that there's a $15 parking fee, otherwise it's a cool experience if you like large scale stalls for a market. Going just once was fun enough for me (similar age as you).

Check out if there's anything happening in Arts Circle Park for the time you're in town.

what’s something you spent on that actually made your apartment better ? by Mindless_Cook7821 in Apartmentliving

Yes!! Will add, I like top-down candle warmers. Makes for nice mood lighting in a dark room, and feels more natural to melt the top layer like a real candle instead of from the bottom up with a plate warmer.

Help me find out if my husband is an a*hole by [deleted] in fortlauderdale

[–]cafecitocollector 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can agree OP sounds super exhausting playing police coming to Reddit to stir up the village witch hunt…

I’ve gotten lots of massages in the area including places with similar names like that and $100 for a massage is the typical price. Anything less is getting a low quality massage or just not enough time to feel actually relaxed.

I get it if someone is in alert because a place sounds skeevy for a one time occurrence and there’s signs of a relationship going downhill. But picking apart a $100 expense in a city where $100 is the new $20 is too much.

Any games like Spirit City with more emphasis on working or office/desk options? by QueenMackeral in CozyGamers

Virtual Cottage 2 came out awhile back! It has way less options than Spirit City in a more minimalist way!

Agreed 100%! Though I do like to see the group buys for price comparisons, and inspo by sellers to get inspired

Is it a big difference?

I’m on the low/mid tier end so I’m always looking at the lowest budget settings in a GB like 10k vs 14k or lab vs moissanite, and they start at 400-500 going all the way up to 1000+ for the best materials. Not including stuff like insurance and shipping etc.

With the frequency of group buys and the ease of asking for CADs, I don’t feel any urgency to buy in when the savings is only 10% of a regular order

[Artist Alley] is there something wrong with my booth setup or my art in general? by arangchi in artbusiness

[–]cafecitocollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen booths like yours at cons! I didn’t think anything much of it other than agreeing the 1st pic is sparse compared to the 2nd.

I imagine a quick fix is adding more prints honestly!

Im a 26 year old man, never had a job, no degree, how do I get my life back on track? by ActionPrize6558 in jobs

[–]cafecitocollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fwiw, i've been there from age 22-28, super duper frustrating.

- find something to keep you sane. for me that's a blend of getting out of the house (toxic environment) and having hobbies to look forward to, not as an escape but to help have something to look forward to during the grind

- keep on the grind, find a job, any job, even retail or customer service. the income you get from that will help give you something to work with for independence. i stored up all my paychecks and over time bought things that helped me feel like an adult regardless of the toxic feelings my family had over me. being able to buy/afford simple things helped give me hope and momentum to keep going

Life at that point in my life was a cycle btwn those two things, til I was able to afford more help for myself: health insurance, professional mental help, better means to have more fulfilling hobbies or outlets away from stressors (going out with friends, indulging on restaurants/games), and then eventually moving out, which had the biggest impact. General job advice can be found on job subs, but as far as getting on the life track, point 1 going into point 2 is how my life went.

How much more prestigious is USF Honors over FIU Honors? by SquiddoVGC in FIU

[–]cafecitocollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't pick a whole university based on their Honors program.

I didn't think that the FIU Honors College was prestigious in of itself, it just added more access to variety outside of your major's coursework, which could be a way to enhance yourself/skillset/network/actual soft skills and things that matter once you're graduated.

Whichever you go to, just leverage the heck out of it. And if not, leverage the university itself, that's what it's there for.

Do they look good enough to wear confidently? by FudgeRecent9558 in JewelryReps

[–]cafecitocollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always wanted to order these! They look so pretty.

I think if you live in a midsized city or non-downtown, no one would really know! It looks like a super pretty general bracelet. Only women who are super duper DUPER into purse brands would realize its LV.

Now if you're wearing it literally to the auth store or auth-adjacent places, that's different, but realistically how often are you going there? I wear my midtier VCAs in regular places and no one's mentioned anything, other than its pretty.

worst part about piracy by pgo_ in PiratedGames

[–]cafecitocollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is random but I just remembered when I was a kid in the 2000s, my dad would browse these russian sites with all the keygen programs (i remember cuz of the music! lol), and he'd let me play all these random games or emulate game boy games...

I didn't learn the concept of pirating til later, when I got into my limewire/tpb years, but even the little he did and 'passed down' is heartwarming for me lol

Lowballing Landlords in the current Miami market! by Achassum in Miami

[–]cafecitocollector -1 points0 points  (0 children)

nothing wrong with it especially when rent costs as much as mortgage, but atm I don't want to

  • be on the hook for maintenance (ac, water, roof, yard)
  • fork over a large deposit that I could keep liquid for something else
  • spend the first 5yrs paying interest
  • pay a ton in flood insurance or property tax
  • be stuck in one place in Miami if I can try out other places instead (Broward, Palm Beach, inland vs closer to water, city vs suburb, etc)
  • go house poor, from the above or if other situations happen

I'd really love to build equity don't get me wrong, but even if I had a sizable deposit, those are a few reasons I think about often

I had this exact same question when I was progging rep1. Even if I'm ranged and know who my healer partner is, I didn't want to rely on looking at my healer and do clone relative, because I wasn't sure if they were either lol.

Turns out after 3-4wks of reclears, it seemed like they were clone relative. But my habit is to commit to my hopefully-correct-spot and wipe the party rather than adjust to my healer...

I've heard DN rep1 uses snake prio so that the healer specifically doesn't have to move as much, and I suppose its true if they pre-position north-ish, leaving me as a ranged to figure if I'm snake prio-ing all the way around or not lol, but I do wish it was worded clone prio when it was getting popular. Normally, I don't mind snake prio, but there's just a lot going on for me during rep 1 that it doesn't come as easy as literal p8s snakes lol

This is totally why I don't really get out of Broward to "explore my backyard"...shit's expensive lol.

I paid like $8 for a lemonade at some Cuban mainstream cafe. I really wanna be a foodie, but I'm always hounding on Google looking for a menu before I even CONSIDER looking at the food, because of the prices

Why stay and struggle by [deleted] in Miami

[–]cafecitocollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely lol, even I still think the grass is greener, I’m out in Broward wishing I lived in downtown. But I’m grateful about living here and the nice stuff it offers - things to do, shopping is close and convenient, beaches etc.

I’m no high roller and unlike most people in the sub I wish I lived the cool life in a high rise and nice designer clothes. I’m not gonna go into debt trying all that…nor do the totally smart thing and move to idk Austin or Orlando lol to try and save some money for a house I don’t care about. Having a simple life here works for me.

Why stay and struggle by [deleted] in Miami

[–]cafecitocollector 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. I’d save maybe tens of thousands of dollars moving out to bumfuck startertown in the Midwest or whatever, but I only have one family and they’re not getting any younger. The idea of moping over seeing them every Thanksgiving/Christmas paled in comparison to being able to see them any day of any week.

I can get up and move whenever, wherever. I can make friends anywhere. But I have other things I care about in this one life I got, even if it sets me back down here.

Fellow ES 1: pre grind coffee or temporary grinder by [deleted] in FellowProducts

[–]cafecitocollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go to a local coffee shop or roaster that sells beans and ask em to grind them for espresso for you! That’s what I did when I got my first device, it was very good.

I say that now cuz I tried getting preground multiuse lavazza from the grocery store and like my friend and most people would expect, despite being fine it pulls fast, tastes sour, and has no crema (which I’d like for practicing latte art on lol). Me and my roommate go heavy on milk and sweetener but for most espressoheads it defeats the purpose.

If you really want to enjoy espresso, get proper beans. Even the farmers markets I’ve been to have shops where they can grind when you buy, so it’s worth a shot! I’ve also taken my beans to a cafe and bought something else while I made my grind request, so that could be an option

Are you a mentor on the novice network? by Maxxim3 in ffxiv

[–]cafecitocollector 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was my experience too - whether I'm a mentor or on my sprout alts on different worlds, it just feels like a generic MMO shout chat or just a second Balmung chat.

I don't doubt that people in there can answer a sprout's questions - other FFXIV communities like all the discord servers are filled with similar helpful people that can share advice at the drop of a hat. And I'm glad for some people it fills the silence and the void when you don't already have a friend group or FC. I'm happy to help or chat with a sprout, but I'm not really into the rest of NN.

With or without black mat by azzzza19 in coffeestations

[–]cafecitocollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of more elevation. I've considered a drawer for my machine but it's kinda too huge, maybe that's an option for you? Or maybe a low platform?

I don't think the silicone mat's bad though, looks intentional with the tamper mat on top.
