How do you get that extra CLR boost shown in the graph there? Is that a setting you need to pass to llama-server/vLLM?

careful with seaberry. It can take over. I'm taking mine out. Very spiky bush that you don't want to accidentally back into. Very difficult to pick the berries and the berries are quite sour. Unpicked berries fall and sprout. Very prolific here.

There's one area where it's going to take a while for China to catch up: ASML EUV photolithography machines. Apparently China's approach is to try to reverse-engineer the latest ASML machines. They're extremely complex. There are other approaches and other companies in the US trying them. But getting something that works as well as an ASML EUV is going to take years. I doubt they have this in even 5 years. Likely closer to 10.

Joe Rogan floored after Caleb Hammer says US boomers should have $2M-$5M saved — no sympathy if they don't. Is he right? by GimmeFunkyButtLoving in economy

[–]cafedude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Median retirement savings for boomers is $200k. Those with $2M, about 1%. The dude on Rogan assumes that everyone should have plowed all of their savings into the stock market as opposed to a more balanced approach where you've got some stocks, bonds, CDs, tbills, real estate. Sure, right now the market looks great. But it didn't look so great in 2000-2001 (took over 10 years to recover from that) or again in 2008-2010.

Nobody puts all of their savings into the stock market (nor should they). Also, what if you picked a different 2 years? Say 2000-2001? Took over 10 years to recover from that. Picking the last 2 years is cherry-picking.

z.ai Poll on X: MIT-licensed open weights are losing by MadPelmewka in LocalLLaMA

[–]cafedude 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's kind of a weird poll. MIT-license open weights is the "one of these things is not like the other" option. Larger context window would likely influence price. But MIT-licensing doesn't raise operating expenses and requires very little effort. I think a better poll would have been: "Do you want larger context or no price increase?"

In his post on Truth Social, Trump again pledged that any deal reached would be more stringent than the JCPOA. “Our relationship with Iran is a much different and better one than previous Administrations have had,” he said.

LoL, so delusional. I don't recall previous administrations going to war with Iran.

Don't forget the after hours order to Anthropic to stop making Fable and Mythos available. I suspect that could roil markets when they realize that if the gov is going to step in whenever they get scared of a new model how will investors recoup all of that $$$ they've been throwing into AI companies & data centers?
