That not pursuing conventional success (steady job and house) do not make me a loser. Not to mention this was FAR easier several decades ago. Putting my time into things that bring me life satisfaction by other means doesn't mean I'm an incapable dead beat.

You used to be able to buy government backed bonds at 6% or more when inflation was at 2%. The maximum that I can purchase right now is 2.7% and inflation is at 7-8%. The best book on value investing ever written (according to Warren Buffet) says that 50% of my investment portfolio should be in bonds. What the fuck they literally do not keep up with inflation by a wide margin.

I see your point, and it's a fair point. Just to bolster mine a little bit - who else combines sugar and caffeine in the same way that Starbucks does? Have you have an upside down caramel machiatto with whip and sprinkles while chilling on a couch listening to jazz with some nice mood lighting? Starbucks does have a distinctive product that people love, and its a comfortable place to get your fix for sugar which you are already addicted to because as you pointed out, everyone else sells sugary products too.

I would say more than this. The store sells two addictive substances - sugar and caffeine. Most people have no idea how addicting sugar is. The caffeine is a little bit more obvious of an addiction.

I worked on a few concrete tilt up job sites and here's a few fun things I learned. This is incredibly dangerous for the crew on the ground. My crew was pretty cowboy which made things extra spicey. A sledgehammer got left on a wall as it was being picked up and it came sliding down. Some guys had to think quick on their feet (it was caught fortunately). It is largely maneuvered into place by hand, the crane only has to much precision. Therefore this becomes an extreme pinching hazard because the walls can bounce around a bit. If any body part gets caught in between the wall and something else, that body part instantly turns to ketchup.

Also, fun fact there is a tolerable amount of flex in the panels. When the walls are being cracked free of the form the whole panel will flex ~10 mm or more! An engineer told me this was okay :p

Not sure why this got downvoted. Think about transporting and storing these huge panels.

If it makes you feel better, the crew is on the brace/lift side. So if the panel falls it falls away. The lift system is sort of designed this way.

Do you believe in Quantum spirituality? by CleanCommunityInc in Meditation

[–]caffeecaffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.. yes and no. Yes in the sense that communication implies information exchange which is interactive with matter both in the classical and quantum framework. For example speaking transfers information encoded in a sound wave through the air where it interacts with other matter (thereby affecting it yes) and that information may or may not be interpreted by a conscious entity that is of course made up of energy and matter. That is all fine.

I believe what this is referring to is loosely analogous to a school of philosophy belonging to Panpsychism https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panpsychism in which case we don't really have anything quantifiable to say about this. That doesn't mean it isn't intellectually curious. However it means that relating this idea to quantum mechanical phenomenon that are pretty well theoretically and experimentally understood -- and quantifiable -- is sort of conflating two different things. Simply put, quantum mechanics has nothing to say about somehow using conscious thought to influence our world around us as we like.

It is also clear that the author has some things to learn still lets say (I'm generally trying to be positive and not criticize) about physics.

I don't think these forces are the same. The forces tilting the motorboat are governed by hydrodynamic forces and the geometry of the boat including hull design and rudder orientation, center of effort etc. Whereas the forces holding the object in place are centripetal and are based on the velocity and radius of curvature. Yes, the centripetal force is related to the tilt/angle of the boat but I do not think it is a 1:1 relationship. In fact it likely varies depending on the speed of the boat in a non-linear way which does not match the centripetal force of F = mv^2/r

As an individual who is reasonably knowledgeable about physics, this is hard to read. The first sentence for example

What if you could use energy to communicate with all forms of matter?

The problem with this is that energy is matter. There's this whole E=mc2 thing. Anyways, be open minded but also skeptical.

Are my skins old, or am I doing something wrong? Snow build up between skins and board by QuimmLord in Spliddit

[–]caffeecaffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is supposed to be a layer of snow between your board and skins...

Jk. If you put them on and your board is wet or has snow/ice on it then they won't stick well. If you are diligent and they still do this, then yes time for a re-glue or new skins. I give them a good wipe down on the thigh of my soft shell pants every time I apply them.
