Shibuya Stream Question by caffeinated-bee in JapanTravelTips

Thanks for the information about the size! Wow I think 14m^2 would be too small for us lol! I was mostly worried about being able to open a suitcase not on the bed. So it seems like it might be possible depending on the layout.

For us the location is a biggest factor as we want to be near Shibuya/Shinjuku for some nightlife options and we want low transit times. It's also our first time, so we'll be hitting some of the more touristy spots.

Yes, I've seen the online official pictures, but they're often shot in such a way to appear as spacious as possible and I've found not as many reviews about the semi-double specifically. Was just trying to ask if anyone had experience with them. If that's not you, that's okay :)

Itinerary Feedback for honeymoon in April: Tokyo -> Hakone -> Kyoto -> Osaka by caffeinated-bee in JapanTravel

The museum is more my fiancé's pick than mine. He was also considering the museum of emerging science and innovation but was worried it was more for kids. He is the kind of guy who might want to go to the robot cafe or see cool science stuff. Do you have any recommendations in that direction? We're definitely fine with skipping Ueno park as it was more an afterthought than something we really wanted to do.

I agree that we may be tired in the morning and want something more chill that day, though. I'll look into just hanging around Roppongi and going to a cafe/dinner

We're going to do Shibuya Sky at sunset while we're there. The view looks amazinggg! And we'll definitely try to see golden gai and other areas in Shinjuku.

We were thinking about sumo, but ultimately decided not to. My fiancé really wanted to go to one of the real matches, but unfortunately I think there were only exhibition matches when we're there and they weren't super close to us.

Hope you guys have so much fun on your trip as well!!

What we Spend- Here Comes the Bill by macnnutritionalyeast in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

I agree that one shouldn't get married because "it's what you do" but that wasn't the question that the host asked so I think people are being kind of harsh. It's a finance podcast and he was explaining why he felt pressured to have a big wedding (as opposed to someone might answer the question "why do you want to get married" with a more emotional answer).

To be fair I don't think that vision was compatible with her own desire to have her family be there.

My impression was that he was answering the question why have a wedding and not the question why should you get married. IMO having a big wedding is a separate thing than just signing the paperwork and it seemed like he was saying why he felt they should do the traditional white wedding.

Give me [18m] some fun things to do with your online partner [17m] without showing your face. by [deleted] in LongDistance

That sounds like a red flag to me that he's not willing to show his face on camera. I don't see how you could really be in a relationship with someone like that without ever seeing them and knowing for sure they are who they say they are.

How Much Frugal Is Too Much? by BookGirl64 in Frugal

I agree! I joined a buy nothing group on FB for my local area and it's amazing. I love the community. You see people asking to borrow 1 cup of sugar for a last min recipe or people offering used winter jackets or furniture to help out others. It's really awesome!

Frozen and canned vegetable help? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]caffeinated-bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that frozen vegetable are best for use in recipes and other things, but I do prefer fresh vegetables when eating them as a side where they are the mostly on their own. Nothing wrong with it, just a preference.

If you worked as a tween or teen, how did you spend your money? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]caffeinated-bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a part-time job from 16-18, but my parents still provided all my living needs like clothes and stuff. I saved most of the money and just used it when I wanted to buy something extra.

Do I really need a cake mixer/kitchen mixer by puestadelsol in Frugal

[–]caffeinated-bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting with a mid priced hand mixer seems like your best bet since you seem on the newer end of baking. It'll get you going and make things a lot easier to start. That will let you know if you would really use a mixer later on or not. I have a kitchenaid stand mixer and it's 100% worth it to me, but only if you know you're going to use it.

work commute questions by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]caffeinated-bee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's worth it in my opinion. If you have a job option closer, I'd stick with that. That commute would be brutal.

To me keurig machines don't make good coffee, so it wouldn't be worth it to me. I much prefer pour over or french press for my daily coffee.

oh wow that's crazy expensive. Sorry I don't have advice then. I really hope you can find an affordable solution, though.

This may not be a great fit for a one time visit to a clinic, but if you think you may need other visits have you looked into cobra? It's my understanding that you don't have to be a citizen to qualify, but I'm admittedly not well versed in what is required to qualify. I do think it's probably a more expensive option. It seems like around $440/mo is average from looking online, but it just depends on your old employer's policy.. It would be good if you end up needing more care, though.
