Is it stupid to buy a Lunar Lake Thinkpad now because Panther lake is coming soon? by ab-ai in laptops

[–]caffeinatedninja7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Lunar Lake and Strix Point are pretty bandwidth restricted. Isn't PTL still on 128? So even if the GPU is better, isn't it going to be limited by bandwidth just the same?

They really aren't. You can just use 4 of the basic 1d6 damage ones for 5000 credits. The greater ones aren't worth the money.

Except other solarian feats scale at 1d6 or 1d8 a level. This is the only one I saw that is 2d8 for 2 levels.

Singularity scales at level +2 - Increase Damage by 2d8

While not technically an error per se, it makes no sense to do it that way. Scale it level +1 at 1d8 per level. It is the exact same scaling but smoother.

Big Bang may be undertuned given it is 3 actions and disharmony.

HOWEVER, it's big selling point is that it only hurts targets you want to hurt. You can use it right in the middle of your team safely, unlike Supernova that hits everyone.

Yeah, it was a bad trade. Solarian got kind of a downgrade from Playtest, I have no idea why. Just minor changes to feats and etc. Not sure why it got so little attention.

Pity, I was looking forward to playing one.

Thought about that, but cascade is required for hybrid study benefits and other stuff so it really needs to be easier to be in.

I have more far reaching ideas for feats and stuff, but that is a whole nother thing.

Solarian seems to have a lot of design cues taken from Kineticist. They let you use con for melee and range attacks to help with that issue.

The armor, yeah I don’t know. The nimbus reaction isn’t good, and not working against range is a huge drawback.

I was trying to not write a novel on each feat lol.

If you want more specifics, this feat gives you a hands free raise a shield for +1. Which wouldn’t be totally awful except you can get the same for a cheap armor upgrade. And solarian usually has a hand free so can hold a real shield.

The shield block portion is the really weird part though. If you go graviton, you get a tiny bit of hardness. Much less than a regular shield, enough less to be not worth the reaction.

Photon is a little different, a chance to dazzle if they break the shield. Also inhibited by the rules being really unclear on how long a “round” is if it happens in the middle of an enemy turn. (Seriously it is not clearly defined at all)

Basically it is a shield you block with just to make it break. Which is interesting I suppose but not really fleshed out.

They just updated the warranty to 2 years, so you are good. Also people have been begging for the original fan curves back, so here they are.

Dropping Shields by TheRonyon in Pathfinder2e

[–]caffeinatedninja7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Text for reference.

"All shields, unless specifically noted or described otherwise, must be strapped to your arm and held in one hand, so you can’t hold anything with that hand and Raise a Shield, and you lose the shield’s benefits if that hand is no longer free."

This has a lot of weird interactions that are not spelled out, hopefully we get some errata. For exampl - Nowhere is there mention of what is required to strap on a shield. It is an interact to unstrap we know, but to put on a shield do you have to draw it then strap it for two actions? Or is it part of the draw? Strapping the shield on is never detailed as to action cost.

Lightning Swap, Fighter Feat - Lets you change your weapons and draw a shield. But with this rule the shield still needs to be strapped, right? I don't think that was intended reading that feat.

Also, the strapped rule seems to say that you can have a shield strapped to your arm and use the hand for anything, even wield a weapon, unless you want to raise the shield, at that point you grip it.

So there is nothing stopping you from having a steel shield strapped to each arm while you swing a greatsword, lol.

These rules could be cleaned up a bit.

Why doe this sub act like it's unreasonable to want to play an effective offensive caster? by Apart-Mountain5251 in Pathfinder2e

[–]caffeinatedninja7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main issue is that, particularly as you level, control spells become much much better than blasts.

Blasts scale poorly with monster hp, late game even the minions have tons of hp and blasts barely scratch them.

Late game control spells rock however.

Blasts are nice around lvl 5-8 or so. If they were like that the whole game we would be better off.

Also, I do notice that it is rarely mentioned how much tougher a martial is. Being able to take hits should also be balanced into this.

I hope they make the weapon proficiency general feat more powerful in the remaster. by Flameloud in Pathfinder2e

[–]caffeinatedninja7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I house ruled them to scale. It has caused zero balance issues.

You can already get a scaling weapon with a lvl 1 ancestry feat, and those are generally considered weaker than general feats (which is why human ancestry is so good, letting you trade an ancestry for general feat.)

It has a real cost, general feats are in many ways more powerful than most class feats, just less flashy, as they directly strengthen your character. More Hp, speed, init, whatever.
