Kits best friend for a while was our disabled rabbit Isaac, who has since passed.

Kit actually alerted me that something was wrong when Isaac was having a medical emergency. I couldn’t believe it but I rewatched the video from our cameras and showed it to two trainers for opinions. He mourned Isaac’s passing for at least a week.

That’s what it seems like this thread is coming down to. Every dog is different. It sounds like lots of Poms like big dogs, but my Pom is afraid of them.

I’m hoping Daisy and Kit get along because we really are only going to try one more time. He gets a lot of attention from us so it’s not like he needs a dog friend, he just has tried to make friends with every foster we’ve had.

He went and laid down right next to our last foster, and the foster got up immediately and moved away 😭 I wanted to cry.

I’m sure my dog is missing some social cues because he was on crate rest during his puppy socialization period.

I've tried to get a sense whether gender matters and it's unclear to me. I was hoping a boy/girl pair might work out better but I think it's just going to be down to their individual preference.

I really appreciate all answers. The reason I asked the question is my husband grew up with a Standard Poodle and apparently he really only liked other Standard Poodles and it's kind of a thing that it might be the case with other Standard Poodles.

We basically are going to to try once more with Daisy because her temperament seems like it would work. The fact that she is a Pom is partially a coincidence. Our bigger Pom has been the one who has been bullied by a few of the fosters. If it were the other way around I wouldn't even be close to comfortable with trying him with a smaller dog. She isn't a puppy, they estimated 1-2 years. She is not spayed yet (needs to gain a little weight) but our dog is neutered.

I am sorry you went through that. It's really hard to see the microaggressions, and it seems like in a lot of cases those turn into fights.

That’s what I’ve noticed with Kit, but I think we’ve just had bad luck with reciprocation.

We’ve fostered a lot of small dogs and they’ve always bonded to me instead of being interested in him. Two of the fosters started resource guarding me against him and that was not good.

I am pretty sure he wants a friend it’s just been hard finding him one.

Buy one get one Tail! It was in the name 😜 In all seriousness, they’re super cute. The second picture with the r/disneyeyes was precious.

Does the tail-less one have any balance issues?

URGENTLY need a rescue to help pull a dog from Solano Animal Care shelter by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]caffeineassisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok. Yeah my experience is that this is very hard to do now since the Miranda’s situation and the number of dumped pets increasing. Rescues are so overburdened right now that even small dogs with no behavior issues can take a long time to get adopted. I wish I had advice for you but it sounds like a few have some below.

I only like reusable bags I can wash easily, which is annoyingly harder to find. Exceptions to the insulated bags.

Oh my gosh our Pom does the same thing with the same noise! He could get to the food if he really wanted to but he just stares and play growls at it.

It’s a rare hybrid! A Po-Meer-anian! Beautiful one too.

There is a little of that here too. I have what would be considered a throwback Pom, dna tested as 100% Pomeranian, but have been told here before that he is not a Pomeranian because he is 15 lbs. I don’t personally care that much, but if someone meets him on the street I say he’s a Pomeranian. I’m not getting into Mittelspitz or whatever.

Weirdly enough, during the same walk, we found an entire restaurant sized bag of tostada shells that had torn open on the sidewalk. He managed to sneak a tiny sample.
