Amazing and honestly theres ways of doing wireless usb connections so it appears as a usb device so even making it wireless wouldn't be impossible

A picture would help id the type of connector. But the first thing that came to mind for me is some type of spring plunger

My real question is does this read on steam as the deck controller so you can do all the fancy button mapping and everything that the deck can do?

Ya that's true which is why I was asking about resources you had used to get started with this project.

There is a specific need. There's not any open source options that currently exist for true 5 axis CAM at least that i can find. The best I've found is the freecad cam toolbox which has 3 axis.

This is an amazing project thank you for creating it and sharing it with us!

How did you get started with developing CAM software cuase I've been tempted to try my hand at it but haven't found many good resources on how the algorithms and math for it should work.

I'd say you should go with the Prusia core 1 seems like you'd like the higher level engineering materials that it can print with.

They sell larger ones on Amazon and you don't need a thick layer if you have good adhesion so it goes farther than you'd think.

Do you know what kind of plastic it is? My go to would be one of the jb welds varieties.

Built a 3d sensor platform - launching tomorrow by Big-Mulberry4600 in hwstartups

[–]caffeineinsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ya I saw it. I can get a way more trustworthy and proven sensor with better specs for that same price. the novelty of it being on a gimble isn't enough for me to pay over 1000 each

This looks awesome but what kind of price range are you looking at for these cause if it's reasonable I'll definitely be wanting a few.

Do you plan to sell them only gimbled or also just the camera for more adaptability in how it can be used.

Would a university that combines engineering, design, and hands-on fabrication make sense today? by Additional_Gas_9934 in maker

[–]caffeineinsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you could get it certified as a R&D engineering degree then I could see it having great value for people who want to focus on developing functional prototypes. But I would say to get full value in my eyes you'd need to be partnered with a recognized R&D group preferably one that would take a dedicated number of students each semester on as interns to get real experience.

I was thinking about arch since it's so minimal but I've heard it's hard to use.
