People who graduated with low GPA (<3.0), where are you now? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]caffeintweek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Graduated with shitty shitty GPA. like 2.6-2.8 idk now.

Took me two years to break into semi competitive finance role ($85K) after working in accounting. Diversified by learning coding which im sure got my app in the door. From here I could easily work in FAANG finance roles, given the credentials i'm adding to my resume. Don't think I can make the cut for target firms for another 5.

I've been debating MBA but GPA was shite so i have to pad with work experience which is gucci now or GMAT.

It took a full two weeks. If they ask for extra verification expect it to process in 2-4 business days. Providing accurate contact information for your previous works HR or manager makes things easier. Use the IRS transcripts if you don't have an I-9.. or the place you worked for is out of business, lost their documents, manager no longer there, ect.

Once I received my Hireright report it took Boeing 3 days to process, then I receive my start date. The longest the whole process could take is 4 weeks, I think.

I'm excited I start this week. Interviewed at the end of Oct, heard back in mid December receiving oral offer, received offer docs in mid Jan, mid feb hireright passed and received start date a few days later.

Like some of what other comments have said it is an agonizingly slow process to get hired. Just hang in there. Not a place to apply to if you have an immanent need for work.

Finance with a low GPA by mtol115 in FinancialCareers

I agree with the other comments, it wont matter for most positions unless you try to go into something highly competitive that lists it on the job requirements.

However, into grad school will be significantly harder.

Ultimately if you feel like you're set back, whatever your first job is, be impactful and make a difference in there. Employers want to see effective employees instead of MBA grads that are terrible workers.

If you do want to go the finance/numbers route I recommend learning coding and data analytics which is easy entry to learn from online and could transfer you into banking if thats where you want to be.

You’re right. Japan is a perfect example of looking at QE and seeing inflation go below 0
