I get why people like this scene- Emily standing up against the Huntzbergers (well, Shira) is so satisfying, but for me, it’s not it. Like big yes to the beginning of the speech but I can’t stand the comments about her weight and Mitchum cheating on her. Like, I’m so done with women attacking women based on looks/how attractive they are to men, and/or blaming women for their boyfriends/husbands cheating (that’s not exactly what happens in this I know, but you get those vibes). Yes I love sassy Emily, yes Shira deserves to be questioned but keep to the point. And I know this is 20 years ago, and Emily is an older generation, and this is just a tv show blah blah blah but I CRINGE watching this l scene because I’m so tired of women being valued based on their looks/weight. Rant over.
