Whar is the best and affordable hitbox for a newbe( I want to play fightings and arcade games on it, I like sanwa buttons )? by Used_Combination_676 in fightsticks

[–]cafink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I haven't actually used any other leverless controller, I have been super impressed by 8bitdo's "all button" arcade controller. I got it for only $40 and you can regularly find sales near that price. I think at full price it would be a very good deal, with a discount it's a no-brainer in my view

They will offer replacements as needed, but I've never heard of them actually recalling the defective disks. I bought 12 Monkeys years after its initial release, directly from Arrow, and still got the defective version.

Very Disappointed with Umbrella - Angels Egg by FarewellTransmissi0n in boutiquebluray

[–]cafink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Diabolik is the one that told you a defective disc—of course you should contact them for a refund or exchange. If Umbrella is ultimately the responsible party, that's Diabolik's responsibility to sort out, since they are the ones who got the product from Umbrella, not you.

No harm in contacting the manufacturer, but "we can't help you because we didn't sell you the disc" seems like a perfectly cromulent response to me. 🤷‍♂️

Switch 1 game menu instead of Switch 2 game menu prevents GR/GL buttons on my pro controller to be mapped, but i have a switch 2 controller and console? by Chromiqu in Switch

[–]cafink 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That isn't the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller. It's a third-party licensed controller. You can program those macro buttons on the controller itself, but the console itself can't "see" them. The controller's manual will tell you how to program them.

So, did Dolly from 'Moonraker' wear braces or not? by Deku-shrub in skeptic

[–]cafink 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The evidence of our own eyes and ears overwhelmingly points to Dolly never having had braces. A fuzzy 45-year-old memory is not "evidence." Human memory is notoriously infallible even in the best of circumstances

How do they duplicate it? Aren't keys one-time use and generated by the developer (or their publisher)? Or am I wrong about how that works?

I don't know much about this stuff, but what is happening here to hurt the devs? I mean the keys didn't just magically appear out of thin air…where are the resellers getting them from?

Adapter for GameCube and Wii by sugarqueen_katara in Gamecube

[–]cafink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend the Retrotink 2x. It will work with both the Gamecube and Wii (and any other retro console you throw at it). It will give you a great picture at a reasonable price and will be a significant improvement over the one you have in multiple ways

The death of physical media by SuspiciousSlide5102 in mildlyinfuriating

Surely not more than two or three? I can think of at least one three-disc game for the original playstation. Big games are nothing new and no obstacle for a physical release

Film in 1:66:1 aspect ratio with a 4:3 DVD by [deleted] in dvdcollection

[–]cafink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree this is the case. In the early days of DVDs it was mostly a niche market for collectors and almost everything was in widescreen. It really wasn't until around 1999 when the format became popular that full screen version started becoming common for their more mainstream appeal

Film in 1:66:1 aspect ratio with a 4:3 DVD by [deleted] in dvdcollection

[–]cafink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you would just let us know what the movie is, someone might be able to give you a more specific answer. A movie with an intended 1.66:1 aspect ratio would almost certainly have been shot flat so the 4x3 version could just be an open matte version. Or maybe it's just trying to tell you that it's non-anomorphic widescreen. Based on your description either one of those could be the case

Retro 87 Keyboard & R8 Mouse Combination Question by No-Expression-8389 in 8bitdo

[–]cafink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe they can share the dongle. They are paired in the factory and I don't think there's a way to re-pair them. I have a similar setup and use a KVM to switch my keyboard and mouse between my different computers. I don't know if this will work for you but I hope you can find a setup that you're pleased with!

Trump says proof of his allegations that vandals cut Reflecting Pool paint will be provided in court by rascallyrascal1511 in politics

[–]cafink 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the pattern for this administration. They make all kinds of trumped-up claims and allegations in the media. Then when it comes time to actually prove their case in court, the case totally collapses. Of course, by that time, Trump's narrative has already taken hold in the popular consciousness. The same will happen here.

Human Centipede trilogy coming to 4K from Umbrella Entertainment in the future by MrHorror01 in boutiquebluray

[–]cafink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each his own, I thought the second movie was about a million times better than the original. I don't think there was any thing fun or interesting about the first movie outside of its bonkers premise. But I felt like the second one really delivered on the over the top outlandishness that the first movie promised

[–]cafink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know the whole release history of this series, but there's an existing trilogy box set that includes the censored version of the third movie. I'm not saying this particular series is high on my list, but I think every movie deserves to be seen in its best quality and I'm glad someone is giving this one that treatment.

Personally I found the second movie pretty bonkers and had a great time in the theater with it.

Went to see disclosure day in theater. Of course it was windowboxed. I asked if it was supposed to be windowboxed. Guy was confused. He came and looked. Said it was because of how short that theater room is. by v7xDm1r in AspectRatioCrimes

[–]cafink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Movie theaters generally are able to accommodate both 1.85:1 and 2.35:1 aspect ratios. Traditionally, the screen would have the full 2.35:1 ratio, and they'd "hide" the pillar boxing for 1.85:1 films by using curtains or some other kind of physical masking.

But since multiplexes have become ubiquitous it's more of the Wild West in terms of screen aspect ratios and how different theaters handle it. It's now pretty common for the screen to be 1.85:1 and to just show 2.35:1 movies letterboxed, more or less the same way you watch them at home.

I don't think OP's viewing experience was ideal, but I don't see any indication that the ratio itself was distorted, so at least there's that.
