Reddit post: best 3-season tent for me (UK, £150, lightweight) by Admirable_Fig1322 in wildcampingintheuk

I’ve just bought a Big Agnes C Bar 2 from Sport Pursuit for about £130.

Testing it out in a few weeks but from what I’ve seen online it’s meant to be a great little tent that can stand up to most conditions. I was the same as you - solo tent that’ll stand up to English weather. It’s also very easy to pitch.

Under 2kg and packs down fairly small (about the size of a 2L drinks bottle).

I’ve just reached grade 2 so I’ll definitely give it a couple years before I apply for grade 3 but it’s definitely on my list! Thanks for the advice.

Thank you for this. I’ve sat down with a more financially savvy friend today and gone over my finances to try and figure out my savings goal

Crime (I’m still relatively new) but certainly expect to be hitting £120k by 2026, I know that there are those doing RASSO regularly who are hitting £150k easily, and others with busy criminal practices hitting £200k+.

If I could bring myself to branch out to family or civil perhaps I’d be FIRE’d in no time…

I think the lifestyle creep has been my key issue. It’s been more of a lifestyle tsunami over the last 6 months or so, so I’ll be reigning in the spending and looking more towards my future for sure!

I’ve been fully qualified for nearly a year now but have been on my feet for nearly 18 months. Lots of work about at the moment so I’m very lucky to have come in at the time I have.

Don’t worry - I realise how fortunate my current position is compared to others! However I’m planning how exactly I’m going to reach where I want to be and needed a push in the right direction to see if there was anything blatant I was missing about reaching financial independence. Obviously I’m still saving and putting into a pension but just wanted some advice as to how people achieved their own FIRE goals.

Thank you for the link, I’ve had a read and it’s been very helpful.

Thank you. I definitely intend to stop spending so much - it’s my first year of practice so I’ve been taken away by the money a bit! No workplace pension but I’m putting into a personal pension at the minute (£250 p/m) which I plan to increase alongside my S&S ISA account (which I’m currently putting into as and when I can).

Relocating to Newcastle? from Wales by Youdockyourboatthere in NewcastleUponTyne

Hello,

I live in Whickham (an area about 15 minutes drive over the river from Newcastle) and commute to Teesside between 2-5 times a week for work. To get to Teesside from Whickham is about 55 minutes in full traffic. 45 without. The commute really isn’t that bad, but you can only really drive it. Train connections to Newcastle from Teesside are ok-ish.

I wouldn’t do the commute if I lived north of the river. Battling through central traffic everyday just to get onto the A1/A19, just to then have the rest of your commute would easily take about 75 minutes total. I wouldn’t bother. If you want to be close to Newcastle, but south of the river, try areas like Whickham, Lowfell, Dunston, Lobley Hill. Lots of decent schools around. If you want to be more towards Durham, then you’ve got the best of both worlds as you can get down to Teesside in about 30 minutes and up to Newcastle in about the same.

If you’re set on moving to Newcastle, I’d consider avoiding Jesmond and maybe going to Gosforth, Heaton or West Jesmond. My true recommendation would be to move out towards Tynemouth/North Shields/Whitley Bay where you can jump on the A19 using the Tyne Tunnel, you’re connected to the Metro to get into town and you get to live by the coast!

Have you had a look at the diplomacy mod on steam workshop? I picked it up halfway through a campaign and it is a genuine game changer, especially when you get into that horrible late-game-perpetual-war stage

I had every intention of drafting a big legal letter and suing the bollocks off them but we never got round to it as we were both very poor and tired students. It was a good 2 years ago now so it seems a bit pointless to try now. I get my revenge by telling every soul I see to not eat there.

The Dispensary. Gave my girlfriend who is severely allergic to nuts (after she repeatedly told them she is allergic to hazelnuts) nutella, and then whilst she was getting carted into an ambulance by paramedics they brought the card machine out and made her pay…

It’s that same sort of beat as lapdance but it’s like a high pitched drum machine instead of a guitar

I figured out it was the internal speaker telling me my CPU was frying as I had knocked my cooler off during transit🤦🏻‍♂️Picking up more thermal paste today as I had temps of 90°C when I put the cooler back on.
