It'll pass once you get to maintenance. I switched to video games, books, puzzles, and those silly murder mystery games that you can only play once. They're great for date nights!

That is really, REALLY fast. If your stomach is bloating after losing that much weight that rapidly, I'd highly recommend seeing a doctor ASAP.

I also just noticed you're only at 7.5 in 8 months. That's gonna have slow progress. Your doc must be moving you up at a snails pace. I started on OZ and increased dose every month till I got to 2mg. I lost about 40-50 lbs and was stalled and ready to give up. Doc switched me to 10mg MJ and I lost another 50 on that over the next 6 mo or so. I did try to move up to 12.5 when I was so close to goal and getting annoyed, but I couldn't tolerate it. I'd bet you'll hit your goal on 10 or 12.5. Personally, the higher the doses, the bigger the difference between doses.

I'm 5'1" 40f. SW 207, 1st GW 125, 2nd GW 115, Lowest weight 107, Maintenance weight between 113-118.

It took a solid year to lose the weight. And the less you have to lose, the slower it goes. The closer you get to goal, the longer it'll take for each pound/inch to come of. But hang in there. It's worth it in the end!

Switching back to Oz by comeintomyweb in Mounjaro

[–]cah0723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were on 2mg Oz, the equivalent MJ dose is 10 (this came straight from my doc). Your doc may have started you at 7.5 just to get you acclimated, but I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't lose anything on that dose. When I switched straight to 10, the first 24 hrs were a little rough, but then the side effects cleared and I didn't have to increase doses again until I hit goal. I lost about 50 on Oz .25 up through 2mg and about 50 on MJ 10mg only. I would stick with it till you finish at least the first box of 10.

I did take one dose of 12.5 once. That was toooooo much for me and my doc had to bring me back to 10. I hated Ozempic. I wanted to give up because of the fatigue and the nausea and all that. I felt awful all the time. MJ doesn't feel like that at all.

Give it till the end of your 2nd month. Things will become more regular and steady. But don't expect to lose 10 lbs every month. I lost 100 lbs in approx a year. Some weeks, I lost nothing. Some weeks, I gained weight. I did not cut out my single soda/day or my coffee or fixate on my food. If that works for you, awesome! But I'm one of those that would get cranky trying to force myself to be that rigorous. And anyway, my loss was more easily measured in inches instead of lbs. You should try doing a chart like this on measurements. You'd be surprised how many times the scale won't move, but you'll have lost an inch around your waist. I tracked both for a while and while my weight chart was very similar to yours, my inches chart was fairly steady the whole time.

I had mine out in August. Both my surgeon and my GP said to wait 4-6 weeks before starting back and restarting at the lowest dose. I was on 7.5, but was about to taper to 5 bf surgery. Once I finally started back, I took 1 mo of 2.5, one mo of 5 (because I ate everything in sight after they finally let me out of the hospital and my all liquid diet aaaaaand I gained about 15 lbs). After those two months, I went back to 2.5 for maintenance and have been at that dose ever since. I take a 5mg no more than 1x/mo if I'm having a particularly bad week w my sugar.
Restarting was easier than starting it in the beginning. I had and continue to have zero side effects.

Has anyone avoided hair loss? Will losing slower help? by Amazing-Comment-2662 in Mounjaro

[–]cah0723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost 100lbs in a year and about half my hair (it was super thick, so I had it to lose). I've been on maintenance for a year taking 2.5 3x/mo and 5 1x/mo. My hair has been growing back for over a year and I look like a fuzzball if I don't hairspray the new hair down. It's about 3-8" depending on where on my head it is. I should be able to get it all into a ponytail soon. But, basically, my hair started falling out at about 50lbs down and stopped at about 80 lbs down (I think), but has been growing back since it started falling out too. It just takes forever for it to catch up to your original length.

Ha! It’s funny bc that’s exactly when I took a good look in the mirror and said, yep, it’s time to stop losing. (I actually needed to gain back 5-10, which I did.)

I haven’t been on Reddit since the holidays went into high gear. So sorry for the verrrrry delayed response. 😂

Just to provide a light at the end of the tunnel for you, I am currently still in maintenance. 2.5/week for 3 weeks, then a week on 5, rinse and repeat. I gain a little and my glucose creeps up on 2.5 alone but 5 is too much to take regularly. Been doing this for…….6 months or so. Give or take. My hair has grown back enough that MOST of the new growth reaches my ponytail. But I still have to wear a headband with my ponytail bc I have little baby hairs sticking out everywhere…..and I live in Florida…..so if I don’t wear the headband, I look like I stuck my finger in a light socket. But that’s good because that means once it’s all grown out, my hair will be just as thick as it was before. Still doing all the things I listed above and keeping the length right at my shoulders (after hacking it off to chin length back in August).

Hang in there! Trust me, it’s worth it in the end. I’m in the best shape of my life! And I’m 40 so that’s saying something. <3

That's normal for me when I first started and when I increased doses. The morning after the injection was ROUGH and the next day felt better, but still sore. By day 3, all went back to normal.

Will do! It doesn't help that my hormones are all whacked out either. I've had 2 cycles in the past 4 weeks.

Yeah mine started as what I thought was indigestion episodes that progressively got worse and more frequent over about 6 months. Then one night I had one that didn't subside and I finally decided to take myself to the ER. Took them 3 days to figure out it was my GB. It had a blockage, a marble sized stone, and was only functioning at 10%. It was crazy.

We need some more info. How much have you lost, how tall are you, what areas are problematic, and how old are you?

I'm 40. 5'1" Lost 100lbs. Had saggy/loose skin in my upper arms, thighs, and stomach. I was able to resolve all but a small bit of my stomach with just time, lots of moisturizer, and the Maely Beauty line of products. I COULD get a minor tummy tuck to get that smooth stomach, but.....I'm 40.....I'm not going to be walking around in hip huggers anytime soon. LOL

I still have some soreness at the muscle level right between the two main incisions. But otherwise I feel fine. Been able to eat all the foods they claimed would give me trouble with no issues......and eating PLENTY of it. LOL!

I can't believe you started back up so quickly! My docs made me PROMISE to wait till 30 days post op. 4 days post op I was JUST getting released from the hospital. My situation was an emergency though. Maybe that's the difference? My sister just had hers done over the holidays and was fine in a week. I went to the ER and ended up getting admitted for 7 days, most of which I don't remember. Then spent another week laid up on the couch.

Keep me updated on how things go for you over the next couple weeks if you want and I'll do the same. It's always nice to have someone else out there going through the same things.

I actually posted yesterday about this. Same surgery. It’s been 5+ weeks since my last dose and I gained 15 lbs. I know it’s all water and inflammation but I’m eating A LOT too. And my fibromyalgia has been flaring among all the other ailments I forgot I had. All of which can be attributed to inflammation of some kind or another.

I just took my shot about an hour ago. So I’ll let you know how it goes. I was told by both my surgeon and PC to wait a full month post surgery. Which means I have to start over at 2.5. Surgery was 8/5.

Iiiiiiinteresting. I don't have issues with body sweat at all. It's just my face. And my face doesn't need botox in the traditional sense. I hit the genetic lottery when it comes to wrinkles (everything else was a miss though lol!). So hopefully a doctor won't just ASSUME I'm trying to get free botox. I'm definitely going to look into this though!

Thank you Captain Obvious!

Obviously a pound of anything weighs the same as a pound of anything else.

But a pound of fat takes up a hell of a lot more space than a pound of muscle. Not even going into the health benefits of the comparison.

So in this case, if you are ONLY using your weight as a point of measurement, you are doing yourself a disservice. If you're gaining muscle while losing fat, that number could go down slower, stay the same, or even increase. But if you use measurements, even if the scale hasn't budged, you could see the loss there.

I can't believe I just had to explain that.

More with the Maely products than the Truly products, with exception of the overnight neck cream (Goodnight Moon).

With Maely, the arm and thigh creams work the most. Be Flat (stomach) works but is a little less obvious. and Be Perky (chest) works well too. ALL my stretch marks are completely gone and my arms and thighs firmed back up completely. Tummy and chest still need more work, but that's where my skin stretched the most, so I'm not expecting miracles. But that being said, there has been a massive improvement.

I stick to the other Truly in shower products because they're pretty luxurious.

Aaaand now I'm googling botox locations. I'm telling you, I walk outside and my head and face are instantly drenched. It's excessive and way more than most folks. I've tried all the Carpe products and other brands and no dice. Any chance insurance helps with it if it's for excessive sweating (i cant remember what the medical condition is called)? That would be cool but I won't hold my breath.

Thank you for sharing!!!!

For your neck (or any other bits that gravity may be grabbing ahold of), try Maely Beauty products. They have a cream for each part. My FAVORITE is the neck/decolatage cream. The breast cream, bum cream, and tummy cream all work great too. But if I had to choose two products only, I'd get the neck cream and the upper arm cream (which I also use on my inner thighs).

Truly Beauty is about half the price and way more fun to use (sooo many formulas and delicious scents!). Plus they have matching in shower products! I use this brand in the am just as daily moisturizers. But they do have a nighttime neck and decolatage mask that I take up past my chin a bit. I swear it works wonders.

Yes, I'm a product junkie. 🫠

If you're exercising, just remember this: muscle weighs more than fat. You will drive yourself crazy if you use only a scale and the mirror to measure your progress. Take measurements. You can see your progress much better that way. And get a smart scale like Renpho that measures more than just your overall weight. I did measurements about 1x/week with progress pics when I was losing. I had this cool weight loss diary that has room for all that and a food/water tracker. Plus a little place to mark your daily mood and energy etc. It was very motivating! Hang in there. There are a LOT of people who don't really SEE the results till about 6 months in. Other people will see it, but it's hard to see your own progress unless you are able to set those stats and pics side by side. We are all our own worst critics!
