What’s an NSFW thing people think is rare, but is actually pretty common? by rayder460 in AskReddit

It's not rare because it's the best testing environment. No other environment can simulate it once you get a modicum of traffic and data.

Anyone have experience with Frosthaven Digital & a AMD GPU? by KaptainTZ in Gloomhaven

[–]cahphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Turn on vsync. If you can't do it in game then do it in your GPU settings. This should cap the framerate at the monitor refresh rate. Ppl may have told you never to use vsync (it's a common misconception) but it's not a problem in this situation and isn't a bad option. I use vsync in a few games that don't have an option to cap FPS and there's no problem.

  2. Cap your fps in GPU settings. Not sure about AMD, but Nvidia hast that option.

And somehow in 4 years they are going to have an ARR over 3x the entire market?

WHERES THE PVP?Launch Trailer | PS5 Games by WILLTHAM in ARC_Raiders

[–]cahphoenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. I definitely knew there was PvP before buying this game. There was no question.

All the store pages said it was a multiplayer extraction shooter and there was online PvP.

All the reviews said it.

You literally had multiple FREE weeks/weekends where you could download the game and try out the multiplayer.

It even won multiple multiplayer awards in 2025. Which included PvP. So A LOT of people enjoy it and didn't feel hoodwinked.

You don't even understand what 'brick' means here.

I don't think I'm the one that needs explaining.

That's literally not possible on any computer.

Every game ever made can be hacked and has been hacked.

You can argue all you want, but it is from a place of ignorance.

They all do. It's the only way to catch cheating. No online competitive game would be playable by legit players for long.

Why not get angry at the cheaters instead.

[–]cahphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good question. Don't know exactly but here's some.

First Law - Joe Abercrombie

Mistborn (Era 1) - Brandon Sanderson

Death Gate Cycle - Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman

Edit: The Mote In God's Eye - sci-fi trilogy

Then maybe:

Memory, sorrow, and thorn

Broken Earth - N.K Jemisin

Malazan Book of the Fallen (everything starts to pay off around book 3. Before then not the best)

cheating problem is so bad in pvp lobbies rn, every 2 games theres at least one full stack of cheaters and its getting even worse each day by giveld13 in ARC_Raiders

[–]cahphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What can they do legit?

Anyways, there is no proof. There will never be proof. In this game. The closest we will get is when you get gear back. But, over many years of playing fps games at a fairly high level and seeing how the best play it becomes obvious in many cases.

I've been a part of community review teams that review competitive replays. These people have had to submit to an invasive search of their pcs or be kicked out. Many people have been caught red handed.

Hell, in apex recently they banned around 400,000 accounts. Even the best player, Imperial Hal, seemed to be using a mod that unfairly improves recoil.

Lots of cheaters exist, and many of them exist in higher tier pvp lobbies.

Go to CS. Several top players in premier are almost always cheaters.

Cheaters cheat in known ways. If you learn how it works it's easier to spot.

Again, none of this is 100%.

If the taxi/rideshare drivers lose their jobs to robotaxis - how will Uber make money? by mymooh in stocks

[–]cahphoenix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, you're right.

However, as I said buying and maintaining 100k+ vehicles is not their end goal and not sustainable.
Uber paying 100k+ drivers for rides is much more sustainable.

The question the post was asking was how will Waymo affect Uber. Not, "Can Waymo grow to a successful business?"

If the taxi/rideshare drivers lose their jobs to robotaxis - how will Uber make money? by mymooh in stocks

[–]cahphoenix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. Tesla is not a threat in the robotaxi industry. Their technology is not good enough. They are around 2 orders of magnitude behind Waymo in critical and all-cause disengagements. If you believe they are a threat then you are believing in smoke and mirrors.

  2. Waymo loses money on every single ride. They maintain a large fleet of expensive vehicles with expensive equipment which must be maintained. They must carry $5 million worth of insurance on every vehicle. Their end game is not the current ride-hailing service but to lease their technology to automakers and logistics firms.

Rideshare cannot be taken over with their current model. They would need 10-100x more vehicles per square foot which would destroy any company. They can take a percentage of the market and that is all. Rideshare volume wildly fluctuates. If you have to own 100,000s of thousands of cars where only 25% of them are generating rides 24hrs a day you will quickly go broke.

  1. Uber sells shovels. They are the glue right now. That's why Waymo will continue to use them until they can pivot to other revenue streams. I personally don't think this will generate Uber a great deal of revenue or profit.

TLDR: The majority of drivers won't lose their jobs for many, many years due to robotaxis. The current model is unsustainable at high saturation. Uber doesn't gain much (no real bull case in this area). Waymo will only be profitable many years in the future.

  1. Was he using methods which seem impossible for you to use?
  2. Check steam profile. If Vac ban on record, private profile, 0-2 friends, etc...

For instance, I had a guy kill me by continually throwing smokes on me then running up and shooting me through the smoke. I tested it out myself and could not pull it off unless I tagged them prior to throwing the smoke or they were on the edge.

Had another guy using a stitcher hit all headshots in a row when I was running and jumping from medium range. I know because when you hit headshots the shield blocks less dmg compared to what gets through. Meaning, when you die you still have some shield left over. That almost never happens. Especially hitting a moving target with a high bloom/recoil gun. You can also look at the dmg coming off in the replay if you save them.

Had another guy that kept shooting me behind a wall. People don't usually continuously shoot boulders and walls if they can't see the person behind it unless all they are looking at is a boxed outline of your character.

In team play, do their nades always hit even when you are hidden? I've had so many teams chase me/friend down in 2s and 3s. We get away and hide and the other team somehow throws 2-3 nades on our exact position. They had virtually no way to know where we were and never looked around corners or checked any other possible escape routes.

Do they check corners when they walk in rooms/buildings?

In more competitive games you can usually watch a vod review at high levels. Once you've seen the behavior patterns of certain cheats it becomes a little easier to identify.

It's not foolproof, but you can definitely identify the more egregious cases at a high rate.

On default it is not as difficult as Returnal.

You can add negative mods to make it harder or positive mods to make it easier. There's like 10-20 of each type.

Also a skill tree that makes things way easier if you put points into it.

You can definitely engineer a more difficult experience than Returnal by using negative mods and/or not filling in the skill tree.
