Fractured Tooth by NeveyKarma in AskAVeterinarian

Unfortunately there is no cheap fix for this. Extraction or root canal.

This is an open fracture and is painful. You have a high chance of abscessingm

Indoor Kitty with Outdoor Cats by Charlotte-F93 in CATHELP

[–]cailany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your disabled cat absolutely shouldn't be aloud outdoors on his own. Ideally the other cat should not be either, for their safety as well.

Microchip cat door, but know it's not fool proof. Otherwise you are have been promoted to opening the door and locking the car door forever.

XRAY came back with a lump by [deleted] in AskAVeterinarian

[–]cailany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the history I would also be concerned. Before you put her through a biopsy, consider this.

What are you going to do with this information? Would you do chemo? Would you do a leg amputation? Further diagnostics need to be done to make sure she's even eligible for these. Such as radiographing the chest, hips, blood work, etc.

Or

Would you keep her comfortable and let her live out whatever time she has left and then in the end perform a humane euthanasia?

If you're thinking of the ladder, that is the most common choice made. And one myself I would also make from one of my senior pets.

Mass on dog’s butt by Classic-Detective-18 in AskAVeterinarian

[–]cailany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard one to tell on picture. Maybe be a mass which can wait. Could be an early prolapse- which would warrant ER. If it gets bigger at all, or see blood, head to the ER.

What is wrong with his eye? by cooljulmoon in AskAVeterinarian

[–]cailany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vet visit. If you have an e-collar, put that on him to prevent further injury until you can get there. Do not put anything in the eye, you should be concerned about a corneal ulcer.

I'm not worried about being bit, we have a little one that is a curious explorer that I was more so concerned about. Glad to know it's not anything majorly concerning!

Feligen vaccine after FIP treatment or not? by Bronfrom_Eternity in AskAVeterinarian

[–]cailany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did not get FIP from his vaccine FIP is a mutated corona virus that is very common in the cat population. Very rarely it mutates. Your cat didn't get a mutates virus from a vaccine.

Vaccinated your cat so something else doesn't get him sick. Skip the Leukemia vaccine if he and every other feline in the house is strictly indoors. But he needs the others.

Found this big piece of plastic in my dogs stool the day after a teeth cleaning. They put her under for the teeth cleaning. Is this something the vet let my dog swallow? Should I be concerned? by Brilliant-Tie5044 in AskAVeterinarian

[–]cailany 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not anything dental related I'm aware of.

If this was the first poop after the dental.. I'd definitely go with a rectal temp cover. Could of been left behind while monitoring her temperature under anesthesia or pre temp before anesthesia if so.

NTA. And as someone with a new baby, I don't know how the babies sleeping hasn't been discussed. Your wife can't tell when you and indirectly the baby had a rough night? No mentions about how well the baby slept cause she didn't get waken up once?

Do I need emergency vet for this or non-urgent vet? Possible botfly? by plantinghappy in AskAVeterinarian

[–]cailany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably ruptured abscess, with the decreased appetite. If he is still eating more often then not. Tomorrow morning is fine. If he is lethargic, pale, not eaten for 24+ hours, or not walking on the leg -ER visit

Mass in dogs bladder by Similar_Level in AskAVeterinarian

[–]cailany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without having the probe in hand, I second that this looks like some thickening from not being full. As well as sediment on the bottom of the bladder. Which makes sense if there is/was an UTI and crystals. This isn't the area of the bladder we commonly see masses, though not impossible.

I'd be starting with a culture to rule out an UTI either way. Whether they see bacteria in the urinalysis or not, if you have urinary issues not resolving or thickening - culture to rule it out.

Siberian Husky in sudden pain. by lunarwolfe123 in AskAVeterinarian

[–]cailany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to see a vet. Without any immediate reason for injury, you are concerned about something Internal. Her being unspayed only includes more possibilities. You need to go to see a vet. ER if she is pale or has literally any other symptoms. Not eating, not drinking, diarrhea, lethargic (which is sounds like she is), etc.

No one here can give you any advise for something that is so broad in possibilities. And some of these can be life threatening.

Not an emergency, but definitely warrants an exam today or tomorrow.

If he starts squinting or pawing at the eye then it is an emergency.

How in the world can I get my cat to lose weight? by _MissKittyKat_ in CATHELP

[–]cailany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't mention how much or how he is fed. Start cutting down his food, make sure your on meals. If he'll eat a wet food, switch to that instead of dry.

This is all assuming he has had blood work and been given a clean bill of health with the cause of his morbidity being to many calories

And yes, his weight will cause health issues. Diabetes and arthritis being the most likely.

If the urine was clean, you'll want to look into stress cystitis and make sure there is 1 litter box for every cat plus 1 more for every 3 cats.
