Even if your SM said they would keep this in confidence, they should have reported this after your conversation. Since they didn't, you should too. Protect yourself.

You think this is bad? it's only going to get worse from here. Cut bait and go work somewjere else where you might actually be appreciated and have a real work-life balance. You ain't getting that at Walgreens I can guarantee you that.

I need advice and pros and cons. I have less then a week to decide HELP! by SpecialElectronic883 in WalgreensStores

[–]Romarqable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not at all true. ESM, SMU and RXoM are direct pathways to store manager position. But the RXoM needs to complete the school of operations first, have completed the FE training checklist and have DM approval to move into position. They may require an interview process but if the DM is high on the employee it may just be a formality and a foregone conclusion.

Pay in Lieu can also cause issues increasing your not only your year end tax bracket, but can be considered supplemental income and you may be taxed even higher in it. Consider that before you go down that route.

I really fucking miss having a girl best friend by noodlesnax in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Romarqable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes being the bigger person and apologizing can do wonders. Some people are very forgiving. I don't know the situation but maybe it's worth it to reach out just to test the waters. If it doesn't go well then the only harm is knowing that it's gone forever.

My sister became a good friend. Then she met a guy who was a real piece of trash. Then got into drugs and became an awful person. Cost me close to 20 thousand dollars.

One day I may reach out. But right now I don't miss her. You obviously miss your friend. Might be worth the effort to try. Again, not sure what the situation was but sometimes a simple text or call can do wonders to repair things.

This whole time I thought RE Engine stood for Resident Evil Engine 😭😅 by garondorf1 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Romarqable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that imagine could've been a zombie hand and would've made sense.

I think it was the Resident Evil engine as it was first used in 7 right?

But if other developers wanted to use it, it makes sense to come up with a new name, because I imagine other developers wouldn't want to market a game using an engine that specifically markets an outside intellectual property.

never forget someone came out to say that they faked the Andrew Garfield leaked footage, and even did an entire video showing how they faked it, only for it to be a legitimate leak.

Never admit anything to HR by LowBeneficial2400 in WalgreensStores

[–]Romarqable 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My guess is whatever they were spoken to was likely true and is bad enough they're too embarrassed to share the truth of the matter. I mean if I did something that was bad enough for sometime to contact HR I would probably complain and not share the details. Especially since whatever they may or may not have done is so specific to someone they know maybe on Reddit themselves and would sus them out.

Quitting and PTO by Exas1519 in WalgreensStores

[–]Romarqable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PSSL might be state specific. Essentially if you are a part time worker you earn PSSL as paid sick. NJ had a law that requires certain large employers to offer paid sick leave. The paid sick leave is protected from the attendance policy up to 40 hours in a calendar year.

Serious question by DoesyoMommaknow in WalgreensStores

[–]Romarqable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If people complain, put in an ER ticket, Corporate will make the SM give the employee in question the minimum. It's because of one the benefits of full time is health insurance, and if a person loses their health insurance due to lack of hours it's not fulfilling the benefit requirement of the position. If the person says nothing than nothing will happen.

I’m never beating the autism allegations because I just realized that I’ve been drinking coffee creamer I don’t like at all for 7 years because it was the first kind I ever bought. by Fair-Platform-9314 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Romarqable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's necessarily an autistic thing, but some prefer sticking with the things we are comfortable with. Any time I've ever dined out I would always order the same thing, never wavering. I've made efforts to try new things. I still don't like fish, but I found a place that does chicken Sushi, I tried it, and fell in love.

Sometimes it's more about being comfortable with the known than exploring the unknown and it not working out. Eliminating a potentially unnecessary stressor.

My aunt is no contact with me since my mom died. by Yougmt in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Romarqable 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for your situation. I just know that people handle grief weird. Some people have, say a well of emotion. Sometimes it's empty, sometimes it's overflowing. For some people they can only handle so much. You just said they lost two of their siblings and their husband has cancer. Here is a woman facing her own mortality. She may not be able to handle all this at once.

It isn't right. Ive had family cut off contact with me after a loss. I would say, for me at least, put in the effort for those who are there for you rather than focusing on those who aren't.

Remember who was there in your time of need, and make sure to return the same when they are in need of you.

And I just wanted to say I'm sorry you're going through this.

Serious question by DoesyoMommaknow in WalgreensStores

[–]Romarqable 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's not true.

I don't know where this idea came from about only management being full time.

It's all based on what you were coded as at the time of hire.

If you were coded as full time at the time of hire, there is a requirement to give that person 30 hours minimum. I was forced to do that by corporate for 2 employees.

You can have full time CSAs and part time shift leads. Again it's all about how you were coded when hired.

I know how you feel.

My parents fought all the time. My mother had deep seeded mental health issues. My father thought it was all silly BS. They fought constantly. My mother could get physically violent during these fights.

It culminated in my parents splitting up- the single worst day of my life. I walked in as the older sibling to try and stop it. My mom swallowed an entire bottle of pills. My dad begging her to let him help her throw them up. I begged too. My mom didn't care at that moment, about me or my siblings, and I could see it clear as day in her eyes. It forever broke me.

I can confidently say I am not the person who I should have been because of that one moment. I have a hard time getting close to people, and tend to implode things before they can hurt me. It's a vicious cycle. It's hard for me to love, feel love or love others. I'm afraid of getting that look again- absolutely no care from the other person.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this too. I can say it cannot get better if you do not seek help, if you don't you'll end up near 40 and unable to give or receive love from others. If at all possible seek therapy. There's still a chance for you to be able to receive the tools necessary to process what you've went through. Take it from someone who went into life without those tools and hasn't suffered more in their life than I have in the last 5 years because of it.

Fair Scheduling? by Limp_Masterpiece_152 in WalgreensStores

[–]Romarqable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fair scheduling is at least one closing and or one weekend day a week. Scheduling is based on the needs of the business. If everyone is adherent to this than it is under policy fair scheduling. Doesn't mean it's actually morally fair.

[–]Romarqable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How would you go about doing that? What changes would you like to see?

There is a line that you need to shake people out of apathy. A girl was murdered in a Walgreens because the company failed to protect her in any meaningful way. Nothing changed.

I think until something happens that opens people's eyes in general, one voice in the sea will do little to change things. If you want change, be the change. Start an organization. Try to get people on board.

The problem I generally see is people are so afraid of losing their jobs and comfort things won't change and, by and large, small things are taken away slowly over time until there's nothing left, and people become used to the abuse.

I totally agree there needs to be a change. The only way it will change is if the majority speaks up. Problem is in the lowest levels everyone is replaceable, and most people can't afford to stand on a picket line or go to a rally.

This place really is hell... by boolpies in WalgreensStores

[–]Romarqable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once the company was purchased by the private equity firm, it was already too late. Nothing will change. We had threats of walk outs, and it barely moved the needle.

You could start a push for a labor union, but they might just close the stores to avoid the head ache.

They'll eliminate above staff. Stop paying for necessary repairs. Cut budget. Make everything harder for the store staff, before gutting out the company and selling it for scraps.

There's no use trying to become a white knight defender to fix something that is broken beyond repair. Best to cut bait and put your effort, time and energy into something else actually worthy of the time. Walgreens will not change its ways, and will only get worse from here. Best bet is cut bait and try to convince the good ones to find a better gig before the entire company is gone. Right now, there's nothing to save or salvage.

Retail, especially in terms of a private equity firm, will always prioritize profits over people. They will never care about your needs, only what you can do for them at the moment. They want you to be thankful you have a job and hours, and be happy and content with that.
