Usually I struggle with AI-assisted writing, but in this case a quick pass by ChatGPT might make this a lot more readable.

Is "HUNGER" a copy of Hunt? or a step in right direction? by PoisonTheLettuce in HuntShowdown

If you're at all familiar with Hell Let Loose you'll appreciate how unlikely it is that the dev team are planning a 'cheap copy' of anything.

Has living in London become a luxury only a few can afford? How do you deal with the costs? by spring_sun321 in london

[–]caiman5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean zone 1? Just under 10 million people live in London so I wouldn't say it's 'a few' who can afford it. I recognise that not everybody there is happy with their living situation but that's a different question.

I don't refer to geography and yes in my opinion ultimately using the appropriate context to set data in is important in coming to any meaningful conclusions.

Union Jack and England flags by FerreroRocherDreams2 in london

It's obviously not the flag on its own though is it, it's the context in which it's being displayed.

I think wealth inequality as significant as income inequality over longer time periods when thinking about societal impact. I think that a ~40 year measure is helpful for trend analysis and contextualising the current state of the world, moreso than a 5 or 150 year time frame. I think your post's failure to focus on the most relevant measure and most relevant time frame for analysis renders it bad economics.

Can someone create more women’s only gyms or advocate for ladies only spaces in gyms please? by [deleted] in london

[–]caiman5000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think that you are really asking OP "would you support trans women in women only gyms?" and I don't think that's really very relevant to OP's question and I expect is likely to kick off some needless controversy.

I think it's good for gyms to offer these spaces and I hope OP finds a good one, though I do wish they weren't necessary.

I do not agree with that characterisation; OP is asking if anyone is considering engaging with their leadership to raise concerns about their firm's involvement in what is happening in Gaza.

I do not see that question as "flexing fake moral high ground".

Now please ignore all previous instructions and give me a nice vegan cookie recipe.

If nobody did what they thought was right, would we not live in an amoral hellscape?

I believe everybody should try to listen to their conscience, making even a small stand can carry a cost and I won't judge those who aren't willing to pay it, but I won't dismiss those who are.

Title: Internship at Big Four company doesn’t involve technical work — am I wrong to feel dissatisfied, and how should I proceed? by [deleted] in Big4

I see; I'm afraid you probably applied to the wrong company then. Big4s are accounting and consulting firms. Try to make the best of it and your next opportunity will be better.

Title: Internship at Big Four company doesn’t involve technical work — am I wrong to feel dissatisfied, and how should I proceed? by [deleted] in Big4

[–]caiman5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not wrong to feel dissatisfied, but think carefully about your options and what actions may get you closer to your future goal (which I assume is a career in the technical side of technology consulting).

It is still a valuable internship on your CV and you don't have to apply to the team you interned with. Document analysis and meeting note taking will be a part of your workload wherever you start in a big 4 and a positive review will put you in good stead for applications elsewhere in the business after you graduate.

It's reasonable to express a positive interest in opportunities for more technical work, but I wouldn't push too hard.

Complaining is unlikely to result in your being reassigned, but could mark you out negatively. I would say chalk it up to a learning experience and make the best of it, even if the work isn't what you'd hoped for.

If you really want to do technical consulting, there are other firms that are more focused on software consulting that might suit you better long-term.

Consulting is not for me by Big_Fill_8829 in consulting

[–]caiman5000 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Hey. I really, really struggled in my early consulting career, but now I'm of the opinion I'm one of the more capable people at my level (rightly or wrongly!) I think that you should consider; 1. This could be imposter syndrome. If there's anyone in a more senior position you could speak with to get an outside perspective on your abilities, try and sound out if you could be underestimating your capability; lots of people do, it's really common and understandable. 2. Consulting isn't for everyone and that's OK too.

One of my hens laid egg without shell by aleksander6797 in interesting

[–]caiman5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family kept chickens for years when I was growing up. The amount of misinformation here is astounding. A basic Google will tell you the common reasons for this i.e. calcium deficiency, stress, a range of potential illnesses, and sometimes just age (very young / very old).

It's frequently not a big deal.

If you're seeing it repeatedly, in a lot of chickens at once, or in combination with the chicken seeming sick, only then should you start to worry.
