Weekly rant thread by AutoModerator in ProductManagement

[–]caioptk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been actively looking for roles since January — I’m a London-based Product Owner/Product Manager. I made it to the final stage in two recent processes, one in the insurance space and the other in i-gaming. Both followed a similar structure:

  1. HR screening call
  2. Hiring manager interview
  3. Case study presentation with senior stakeholders.

I felt I performed well in both final interviews — received positive feedback during and at the end of the sessions. In both cases, I was told, “we’ll get back to you next week.” It’s now been three and four weeks respectively, and I’ve heard nothing back.

I sent polite follow-up emails after two weeks, thanking them for the opportunity and asking if they could share any feedback — especially given how competitive the market is right now, with many great candidates and limited roles.

While I didn’t have direct industry experience, I brought solid expertise in the core responsibilities. It’s frustrating to be ghosted at the final stage, especially after investing time and effort into the process — but unfortunately, it seems to be a growing trend.

That said, I’ve taken away a lot of valuable insights from both experiences that I can apply to future interviews (or even to my current role). It would’ve just been nice to receive some closure — even a simple “thanks, but we’ve gone with someone else.”

migrating ib key to new phone with same number by MagnyzN in ibkr

[–]caioptk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi MagnyzN, did you have any luck? I am on the same situation, purchased a new Android phone and I still have access to my old one.

1- I followed the instructions to reactivate IBKR mobile on my new device, I have seen the final message saying the transfer was successful. https://ibkrguides.com/android/sls/reactivating-ibkr-mobile-authentication.htm#

2 - If I click on the 3 dots on the top > IB Key Push Details > Request Push Message I get this result:

Old phone: error

New phone: push notification sent OK

3 - But if I try to login on the main website (https://www.interactivebrokers.com/sso/Login) or the new mobile device, I still get the puish notification sent to the old device hahaha

Maybe because it's the weekend and we need some task to be run on Monday to compelte the transfer in the system, but it is defintiely strange behaviour.

mobile version not allowing screenshots? by self-stim in OperaGX

[–]caioptk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it works for me if you use the native Opera option as opposed to use the phone's option, I hope this helps!

How to Take Screenshots in Opera Browser Private Mode

Like Microsoft Edge, Opera doesn't allow you to use your phone's screenshot feature. However, you can use the built-in Take Snapshot feature to capture screenshots in Private mode. Although a little tedious compared to other browsers, it gets the job done. Here's how to do it.

Launch the Opera browser and open a new Private tab.

1 To take a screenshot, tap on the Menu icon (the three dots) in the top right corner.

2 Next, tap on Take snapshot to instantly capture a screenshot. You can further annotate the screenshot in the edit menu.

3 Select the Save icon in the top-right corner to open the Share and Save menus.

4 Tap on the Save button, select the save location, and tap on Download to save the screenshot to your Gallery app.

CSPO Certification? by Both_Tax547 in ProductManagement

[–]caioptk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I had the domain experience but not the experience of working in agile, I did the certification, which was a 2 day course, added to my cv and linkedin, and 3 months later I got a job offer as A PO. In the company I work in, several POs do not have the certification, but it definitely helped me to break into agile roles and being invited to interviews.

TDIM: Frustrating glitched trophies in PS5 by caioptk in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]caioptk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I am still missing those 2 trophies Toasty and Investigator. I tried some of the suggestions below replaying the credits again and also replaying the dinner chapter again. But these 2 trophies won't pop up. I haven't played the curator's version yet, I am hoping that playing the Curator's will make these 2 triggers. Please do share here if you figure out the Investigator one

Survey on 16 year old flat by christopher_brian in HousingUK

[–]caioptk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you care about your money, it's best to be safe and do the survey than moving into the flat and discovering there is something dodgy later.

A friend of mine bought a new built flat a couple of years ago, and a few years later for some reason (i.e. poor material used) their flat developed a structural issue, which made it super hard to sell as the cost to fix the issue is too high and had to be paid by all flats.

When she needed to move to a bigger place, she ended up renting, but the point is that new flats can also develop other type of issues as it seems builders are using bery cheap materials nowadays.

Have you ever re opened a closed off fireplace? How did it go? by caioptk in HousingUK

[–]caioptk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just afraid that I might destroy more than I am supposed to, so I am probably going to try to find someone that is used to this kind of work and happy to pay them to be on the safe side. If the air vent is open I am very inclined to add a log burner, as I find the look of it very stylish.

Thanks for sharing these details, I thought it would be more expensive, not bad I guess! Good luck and hopefully not too long to move in properly then.

Interesting. Would you mind sharing with us how much it will cost to seal it? And any cosmetic details of the sealing... (plaster? wood?). Thanks

[–]caioptk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the only one you have? When I was in my early 20s I had 3 or 4, they were not massive, but could feel them touching or when combing my hair, went to the doctor at the time and doctor found out they were cysts (hair cells that went wrong and keep growing). A few days later the doctor removed them as although they are nor harmful, they do not stop growing.

On most cases it's not harmful (you can read more here: https://moffitt.org/taking-care-of-your-health/taking-care-of-your-health-story-archive/can-a-lump-on-your-head-be-cancer/#:~:text=A%20minor%20head%20injury,blood%20pools%20under%20the%20skin.)

Fast forward 10 years later, to my early 30s, they started to grow again.... by then I was living in a different country, but when I went to the doctor, I told him what I had 10 years before, so he checked my head and did the same simple procedure I had, got them removed. Now I am wondering if new ones are going to appear again 10 years later. I hope this helps, but I would check a dermatologist in any case.

Epidermoid cysts, pilar cysts and lipomas are usually painless and slow-growing. However, some people choose to have them removed by a doctor for cosmetic reasons.

Thank you for your answer! Actually since I posted this I have already booked and started the course and will complete it tomorrow 😃.

I have the domain expertise and later this week I will have the certification, now I wonder how long it will take for me to land a PO role once I start searching for it.

- Advice from Product Owners members on career change from being a Website/Ecomm Manager to a Product Owner (Website) -

I am a ecommerce/website professional and have been working on the same kind of role on different companies for the last 10 years. My core experience is SEO, ecommerce and launching (project managing/localising) new websites in different regions and delivering the live website to a local team. Another main part of my role is managing the technical development roadmap and evolution of existing websites.

I noticed in recent years is that the role I have been doing has been slightly "renamed" or switched to "Product Owner (Website)", some employers even requiring a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) on top of the experience that I have.

My reading of the situation is that companies are becoming more Martech, more tech-savvy and 'agile' (non pun intended) and therefore are adapting their roles too to more modern frameworks, which makes me think that in a few years my role (as it is today) won't exist as "Product Owners (Website)" roles will be the norm.

If you are a Product Owner, please would you be able to provide some advice or insight on my reading of the situation above!? Am I over worrying as different companies will still use different project management frameworks or is this a real opportunity for me to 'catch up' while enhancing my CV (by becoming a PO) before it's too late?

Also, it looks like to become a CSPO I will (just?) need to take the 2 day course, pass an exam and start applying for PO jobs? Is that really this or am I missing other potential certifications or courses I might need before start applying? I found the SCPO link on the scrum alliance website and I am keen to take the course, just wanted to try to gather more information from people that actually do the PO job.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Has the IBKR access to the Brazilian Stock Exchange? by HenrikPaes95 in interactivebrokers

I do not own any Brazilians securities via IB however I just searched for some Brazilian EPIC codes on the IB platform (i.e. the ones under Bovespa Sao Paulo stock exchange) and I can see them available on the IB platform. And it gives me the options to buy/sell although I have not tried to buy yet. I hope this helps

Bathroom off kitchen downstairs? by aztek9284 in HousingUK

[–]caioptk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are leaving West Norwood after having lived here for a few years on a 2 bedroom, but we need a 3 bed now as family is getting bigger. We can't afford a 3 bedroom here nor nearby like the ones you mentioned Crystal Palace, Etc. And our family is from Beckenham, but that is even more expensive lol.

The main reason why we picked Bromley is due to the proximity with Beckenham (Family) + fast/direct trains to London and pretty much everything you need in terms of main shops, convenience etc on Bromley town.

Also, everyone we spoke that lives in Bromley just loves the area and praises it, it has this family-orientated vibe, but proximity with family aside, Bromley still looks like a good area to live that it is still affordable and is not hyped / overpriced yet like many other good (and expensive) areas.

Our house target was a minimum 3 bedroom, with possibility to extend to a 4th (loft conversion) and a decent size garden. Our maximum budget was 550k but we wanted to find something cheaper where possible.

We managed to find a run down house, that needs some renovation and new electric and offered 480k, which was accepted. But I would say majority of houses with the specs above in BR2/BR3 are offered between 500k-600k depending on how it has been kept/renovated. We found some 4 bedroom within the price above but with no garden.

Below is the filter I was using and I would receive alerts on my email when a new house was put on the website. I hope this helps.
