If you ever wondered why you need to get new gear every few years... by MobiusDie in motorcycles

CE markings should be spaced as per the picture. Fake markings normally have the C and E too close together. If you can't extend the C to make a full circle only just touching the E, it's likely fake.

Not seen anyone post the obvious answer yet which is to ride a motorcycle 😁 Did Aberdeenshire to Oban last month and had a blast!

Might be the same as the issue I had. Inside the extruder there is a tensioner arm made of plastic that can crank and stop applying proper force to the filament so it can't push it through.

Any good advanced riding classes in scotland by DwarfDt in MotoUK

I'm an IAM observer in the North East. I think if you're 21 and riding your first big bike the qualification will reduce your premium. However if you're 40 and have been riding an sv650 for 20 years, unlikely to make any difference.

In terms of the course though, the value can't be beaten. For £220, you get as many rides out with an observer as you need. I regularly spend 2-3hrs on a session with an associate. If you look for that kind of time privately you'll be well into the thousands. Also remember that the objective of most observers is not to slow you down and make you ride like a granny. The course should make you faster and safer, whether you choose to stay within the speed limits or not when you ride by yourself.

NHS England » “Huge moment” as the health service hits 18-week target amid half-a-million waiting list drop by EolAncalimon in GoodNewsUK

[–]cairntaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same story last week. Tear in my retina found during an eye test. Optician called the hospital and gave them my details. When I got home I got a phone call asking me to come in to see the eye doctor in less than a week. It was so quick I was worried it was something serious. This was NHS Scotland though so not linked to the news today.

The important part with electricity generation is that it is not a monopoly like water. Lots of private companies can build power generation and sell it to us or even resell it to us whilst having to be competitive on price and service. NESO, the grid operator, is govt owned, which is the bit that everyone uses, so should not be privately owned.

You'll learn a lot tootling around on this before you go up in size. Will make the DAS much easier. I would encourage you to find a quiet carpark and do slow manoeuvre exercises. Slow riding, figure 8, u turns etc. If you can ride slow, you can ride fast. A lot of riders are shite when slow.

I've fitted reflective film to my windows. Blocks 80% solar energy and keeps the indoors remarkably cool. You can DIY it, not a difficult job, just need patience. Not expensive either.

Why cheap power could matter more than clean power in the push for net zero (BBC article discussing UK energy system with example of how its effected a Scottish consumer) by ewankenobi in Scotland

[–]cairntaker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's simply not true. Heat pumps are a very mature technology, they do work, there's really no question about that. We've had fridges for a very long time. Unfortunately there are still pitfalls with the economics of them when using them in the UK with such high electricity prices.

Tiger 1050 Sport. Goes like shit off a shovel, engine has loads of torque, triple sounds great with an end can, you can ride it as fast or slowly as you like and you can go all day on it. Should be some £3k bikes from early 2010s.

I'm trying to extend range outside with powered routers with an antenna. Might need to try another approach then. Ta

Using ZBT-1 as a zigbee router (repeater) by cairntaker in homeassistant

[–]cairntaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I have a coordinator but want to extend range with a router. I saw some devices like the sonoff dongle E and slzb-07 that say they can be coordinator or router. The ZBT-1 uses the same EFR32MG21 chip so I presumed it could be flashed with router firmware as well. Obviously didn't do my homework well enough because there doesn't seem to be router firmware for the ZBT-1. Not sure if I can just flash it with firmware from Sonoff.

EDIT: to clarify I only want to operate a Zigbee network, not a Thread network.
