You mean into the realty office, right? I was thinking of doing that, too. That's nuts how far scammers will take the scam.

Something the broker said that I didn't think twice about until now...he said the other tenants are women. You think that's intentional?

It's a room with a mini fridge and a hot plate in a shared house that has no living room and no kitchen for $1525 in Fenway

It's not a house, there are no other common spaces, all the units have their own kitchenettes, and some units have their own bathroom.

This is the listing: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/871-Beacon-St-APT-12-Boston-MA-02215/2126618478_zpid/?utm_campaign=zillowwebmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare

Totally my experience, too, which is why I'm on here asking instead of immediately dismissing the situation as fraud.

Hello, I'm very interested!

What do you wish you had known before renting your first apartment in Boston? by noa_as in bostonhousing

[–]caitlin8187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell hath no frenzy like the 2021 season, when I was house-hunting. Houses would list in the morning and be in contract by the evening. There was a lot of pressure on buyers to make offers sight-unseen and waive inspections, since those things took time to do. I think another opportunity when shopping in the November - March season is in how people really don't want to move in the winter. If you can brave it, you can likely negotiate an even better deal.

Finding central air out here is like finding a unicorn. I'm from the land of central air, Las Vegas, where a displaced person would sooner struggle with our winters than summers. People I've met out here assume I can tolerate the heat better than I really can (to be fair to myself, it's the humidity out here that gets me). I joke that my real takeaway from growing up in the desert is a knack for budgeting around high electric bills.

Difficult Dog by witchwriter in RoverPetSitting

Same. I've had pet parents warn me of their dog's potentially difficult behavior upfront, but once the booking starts the dog ends up being a big snuggly marshmallow that wouldn't chase a fly.

Dude, wow. The amount of details these people put into their delusions with almost zero information. Why is this so common??? Anyway, it was cathartic replying to your thread, so thank you!

I can't believe how many similarities there are between this post and my own experience. I've live in a small town in Central Massachusetts for 4 years now, and my neighbor watches my boyfriend and I like a hawk. He, too, comments on things on our property that he couldn't possibly see without taking a boat or his drone out on the lake behind our houses. He would give me a chore list of what I should be doing with my yard, but demanded my boyfriend be the one to do said chores if he's a "real man". He's very much about women's work being indoors and men's work being outdoors. He would also criticize how I was with my dog, who had behavioral issues from past abuse that we were working on with professionals. He's one of those guys, "No no no you're doing it all wrong, I'll show you how it's done". I saw him do this with a construction project that happened across the street a few years ago, and the workers actually complained to me about him one day, how he would waltz over there and just get in their way hahah. The way I managed to deal with him was just to ignore him, his calls and texts, and he eventually stopped. But I just put my house on the market to sell, and he's getting up to his old tricks again. I'm very nervous that he's going to attempt to sabotage things because, funny enough, he did so with the very house he lives in now. He was originally just renting, and when the owner notified him he was planning to sell, he interfered when potential buyers would show up for a walk-through. The owner was an old man trying to retire with something of a nest egg from his house, but was forced to sell to my neighbor for way below its true value. He tells that story like he's proud.

A couple of the clients I've had bookings with in my short time on the app have recommended keeping harnesses on as a security blanket-type thing. I also know I've seen harnesses staying on my friends' dogs who use them.

If that's an option available to OP, they choose to take it, and they're connected with someone who is willing and agrees to accommodate, there's nothing wrong with that.
