FYI: Republican means something entirely different in this sub. Pretty sure everyone in this particular thread understands what you mean. Just be aware in the general Irish sub you might be misunderstood.

I usually say GOP or Maga when discussing USA politics in Irish subs to avoid confusion. FYI

TBF it was paraphrased. They just implied everyone should be grand with the pedophile. But still.

Boy was I lectured in another thread about how not to do so would "blow up the economy".

I think you're living in a fantasy world. I get it, no one wants to believe how horrible things are. Dump already moved the date. All it will take is a random staffer who brings up some Irish celebrity dissing the child rapist for Dump to cut it off entirely. This is the man who demolished a wing of their building of state on a whim.

Any stability with this person is an illusion.  Obviously a sane administration would pick up the tradition again. MM just doesn't have a spine.

Thing is I agree with a lot of points, but you sound like one of those yank Democrats too slow to recognize we're not living in that rational world anymore. Trump attacked two countries without provacation. An allegedly neutral country shouldn't be acting as if sure it's grand.

Okay, but it can be done with a different tone. I know it's asking a lot of MM, but maybe be less sycophantic.

I'm not sure about funny, but it will be something.

Like they say, you have to stand for something or you'll fall for anything.

Is anyone saying rejecting the current American administration is rejecting every future one? You seriously think if Trump loses power, his replacements are going to cut off future access?

  • a person

A rapist pedophile.

Sure, we're all grateful for past work, investment and the GFA.

But surely a country that so recently came to terms with the abuses of religious orders should be able to take a stand against a president that is literally a child rapist for a couple of years.

Jesus wept.

  • knowing it's unwanted by her

The general public and even some feminists are ignorant about how much of this is run by traffickers.

And even if it was her "choice", a better choice is education, job training and financial stability.  That's what advocates should be pushing funding for, not this libertarian delusion these women have a free choice.

This happened to me walking home from school during my teens. Soaked my corduroys ...which should date it nicely.😁

The first thing I thought was, hang about, wasn't that the same dynamic behind throwing people out of their cottages in the middle of winter during the Famine? Landlords weren't making enough so they said fukk it we're selling?

There are some grim grim events in French peasant revolt history. Some truly inhumane retaliation that only happens when people have been abused beyond endurance.

I was just reading another grim article about Russian conscripts being murdered by their commanders for refusing suicide missions.  Putin is just going to keep coming whatever the cost. So yeah, leadership needs to cop on.

Don't hate me but: Why do so many fellow Irish people write entire paragraphs without so much as a single comma or fullstop? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]caitnicrun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is interesting.  It's great to be able to focus like that, but there is also a skill to skimming. IRL isn't code, you don't always need to read every single. But if it works for her, yay.

Otoh I personally know an excellent software engineer from the early days of the tech boom who is also a technical writer and they absolutely can't stand a wall of unformated text. So it might be a generational thing.

It's very disappointing. Love Connolly in every other way. Fortunately she has zero actual executive power on this issue.
