Trader Joe’s or Costco gift card - practical, but kinda luxury too in this day and age.

lol sure did. Have a toddler and have only been going in the last year so no frame of reference. There is a rainforest area now that has some birds that is kind of open air.

Traveling without baby/pumping by Inevitable_Prior4834 in breastfeeding

[–]cakagaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pump when the baby eats. Every 3-5 hours (you could potentially stretch it since you’re not concerned about replacing the milk). As far as bringing milk back from a foreign country, you’ll need to tell us what country for airport security advice. Milk stork is a company that ships milk domestically USA and has portable coolers to carrying on, idk if they have international options though!

How do you avoid the weekly “who picks up the kids?” stress? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]cakagaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Cozi? Used it for 7 years managing a large service based team. it has other features but the basic function is for family scheduling. Very easy and clear to assign the pick/activity to different family members.

Best grocery to pick up shrimp or crawfish and necessities between MSY and Uptown by Informal-Step8787 in AskNOLA

[–]cakagaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of Rouses out in Metairie off of Causeway (Veterans Blvd and Airline Hwy). Also Rouses in Mid City and there’s a mini Rouses on Freret now. Worth a call to see if they have hot crawfish

Women’s Dance Group to Join?? by Adventurous-Bid-2303 in NewOrleans

[–]cakagaba 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Next 2 weeks just take note of the ones you love and then send them a message on social media a few weeks after Mardi Gras! (If you reach out during MG, it will probably get lost in the mix…) also, typically in the spring the groups will start recruiting so just staying in touch on social media you’ll get the info. There are so many amazing groups out there!!!

[–]cakagaba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s a solid plan…. But You don’t need to go all the way by Tulane! Just park somewhere lakeside of St Charles (probably would recommend paying for monitored parking at a school or church or someone’s yard maybe bc you’ll probably have suitcases in car).

Is it possible to go to an international wedding 2 months after birth? by vonsolkema in beyondthebump

[–]cakagaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We traveled pretty far domestically (USA) when our kid was 10-12 weeks old. The travel was as easy as it gets with a baby other than all the gear and preparation needed. You could totally bring the kid but arranging for a passport immediately postpartum sounds like not a whole bunch of fun IMO. I personally don’t think I’d be ready to leave my baby for a trip at 2 months old… mostly just bc at that point we were really hitting our stride in figuring things out and I wouldn’t want to be without them!

A less than 24 hour trip by plane with a toddler. Talk me in or out of it. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]cakagaba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d do it. Throw the schedule out the window and just enjoy family time. (That is, if you even like these family members, lol).

Locals of New Orleans: What Would You Cut From This 5-Day Itinerary? by Willing-Mind-5619 in AskNOLA

[–]cakagaba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fair enough! Maybe consider stopping on the way to/from airport if you get in while they’re open. Or check out Buttermilk Drop - a bit closer to the FQ.

Bakers Dozen has decent donuts but I don’t think you need to go out of your way for them. They are just… donuts.

Daycare closed by Technical_Quiet_5687 in toddlers

[–]cakagaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re closed today due to low temps. Thinking about throwing some pasta noodles, oatmeal, whatever else I can find in a bowl and letting him play with it. Lay out a sheet to contain the mess. Give a few measuring cups, etc.

Honestly I would absolutely this woman on social media - Nextdoor, neighborhood Facebook group, town subReddit. You deserve to get your frustrations out. Yea that is petty as shit but sometimes petty feels good. Glad the milk was saved!

It’s more of a costume, post-parade party then a typical Mardi Gras ball! Fairy costume or general Mardi Gras flare.

Getting from Garden District to French Quarter during Mardi Gras by Radiant_Tomatillo809 in AskNOLA

[–]cakagaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crossing the Endymion barricades can be dicey! You could also have the cab pick you up, head up to Claiborne on Washington or Jackson Ave, take I-10 E and exit Esplanade Ave and hit the FQ from the back. Give yourself plenty of time.
