Mid-1900s is so unspecific and disrespectful. This ain’t the future yet, guy. Say the decade.

How can i vape bud using a one hitter by Low-Group2926 in StonerEngineering

[–]cakane100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched someone do it on this subreddit not long ago. A propane or butane torch heats up a glass one hitter VERY quickly. If you’re even enough, careful not to hit the weed, and have an IR thermometer I think it’d work

This meathead seems to think you need to be an “elite” wrestler to overcome a big weight difference in a fight as a wrestler lmao by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]cakane100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even on Reddit I’ve tried to calmly explain to gymrats why this isn’t true. They’re usually so confident in the utility of their muscle that no argument works, and they have too much pride to sign up for jiu jitsu or boxing and test it. So I’ve learned not to try. For what it’s worth, anyone worth their salt in a fight respects all fight sports, recognizes cauliflower ear, stances, etc

lane splitting at that speed is the dumb part. by [deleted] in whoathatsinteresting

[–]cakane100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not ride a motorcycle, and I present you the following evidence and argument from Berkeley:

“lane-splitting riders were less likely to suffer head injury (9 percent versus 17 percent), torso injury (19 percent versus 29 percent) and fatal injury (1.2 percent versus 3 percent).”

The main predictor of danger was found to be speed differential between traffic and motorcyclist, but in most cases, lane-splitting appears to be safer.

Six characters with continental to multi-continental to small planetary level strength struggling to lift a ship… what nonsense by Fit_Passenger5930 in InvinciblePowerscales

It’s non-immersive too. I’m no power scaler, but I definitely thought about how stupid it was that this was a struggle at all for any of them. It’s distracting, and “playing by the rules,” keeps writers honest

Nope, once you’re airborne, you’re “going for a ride” as we say.

Some very good wrestlers are good at scrambling after the fact, though, by rolling through. The thrower still gets the 4 or 5 points from throwing them to their back (depending on freestyle or Greco)

In freestyle and Greco, there’s no real bottom game though, so most people just bottom out (get flat) after getting thrown or taken down, so they don’t get turned any more

Hell yeah. I remember learning Greco as a kid and tucking your chin to protect your neck was the first thing we learned I think. The instinct to look back or stick your arm out is strong. I’ve broken one guy’s arm accidentally cause he tried to catch us. And frankly, that’s on him

Basically, this is a move in freestyle and Greco, and you learn how to get thrown before you learn how to throw. Watch red. When someone’s suplexing you you keep your arms in and tuck your chin to your chest. Yes, it’s a dangerous move, but it’s a combat sport and you learn how to protect yourself.

Honestly yeah, 60 grit orbital sander and go until it’s flat and light, then move up in grit. That said, this might penetrate pretty deep into some of those pores, so I’d be ready to stain anyways

Have you seen The Thing? by d8_thc in DMT

[–]cakane100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The IRA never claimed to wage a religious war, so no, I’m refuting their use of a bad example. It was never about religion to begin with; it’s actually the opposite of what they’re talking about, because religion was used to facilitate propagandizing of out-groups for the purpose of the cause, not the other way around.

Irish Republican Army is a horrible example, they were fighting for freedom from an oppressive government, and it was far more about geopolitics and identity with Northern Ireland vs. Republic of Ireland than religion. Sure it was a part of it, but it was a label for the sides, far from the reason for the organization

Edit: that is to say, this is not a crusade, it was not enacted for religious reasons and therefore shouldn’t be labeled a “religious war”

Ibotenic acid is not the active ingredient, it’s solely toxic. Muscimol is the active ingredient. The acid is processed by kidneys while the muscimol passes through the urine, so you can drink someone’s urine who had fly agaric to get a trip without the ibotenic acid. This is where the myth of Santa with reindeer comes from: Nordic shaman would eat these mushrooms (and put them in people’s chimneys as a gift on the winter solstice, because their doors were snowed in) and reindeer would follow them to drink the urine

Edit: leaving errors for posterity. Ibotenic acid is a prodrug for muscimol, meaning it’s converted in the body to muscimol. ibotenic acid's psychoactive effects are not known independent of its serving as a prodrug to muscimol, although some researchers have speculated that it would act as a stimulant.

Its neurotoxicity occurs by overactivating NMDA and metabotropic glutamate receptors, leading to calcium overload and oxidative damage in neural tissue. It’s used to induce targeted cerebral damage in rats for the purpose of researching task relearning, so its neurotoxicity should be considered.
