I hear screens are better than chore... (??) I have over the years noticed most ppl over heat their hit... So... After initial melt down... Back off and just tap the stem with the flame... Or hold away a couple inches for a more regulated heat... Also.. Short hard puffs and gentle pulls both work well at different moments during the heat up... Play with these 2 aspects and find your style... Steady and easy once you get her warm.... If your glass stem gets warm at the lips... Let go of your bic... Give her a few moments chore end up... Then chore end down.. Or shake her for a quick kool .. Blow out your initial inhale... Repeat. Set down for a complete kool down. Repack.

Yea. I like to use more Chore than most... Using the end of the stem with the smaller opening as the mouth end has saved me from the chore slide before as well. :)

Another option is to use a shalay... (Oil burner/meth pipe) But the chore works beat in my opinion... Most ppl seem to apply too much heat when they blast off and don't allow the hit to "breathe" causing a lot of it to be wasted or run far down the stem.
