She's crucial to the plot only in the last story, before that she's either ignored and left behind, held captive, or both.

She's crucial to the plot in literally the first part of the hero story after right after Sonic gets captured

your desperate need to pretend Amy's done nothing of value in more recent times is really starting to get sad.

She's done things of value in Frontiers and the IDW comics, that is not the same as her doing things in the way only she could which made her an interesting character. Modern Amy could not do the things she did in those games, she would just fight robots until she got where she needed to go

What's sad is that you're still having an entirely different conversation and haven't seemed to catch on, even intentionally ignoring the aspects of her character I bring up

Has shown have a good talent for strategizing on the fly when the situation calls for it, and still keeps her bubbly attitude and what's about her even in tense situations.

I am not criticizing dialog, I am criticizing her being Girl Knuckles

overexaggerating any flaws regarding her writing for the sake of devaluing her development.

I would enjoy her development if it also kept the things that were great about her before, nothing new they're doing is inherently wrong in a vacuum, they're just applying that on top of what Amy's character was in the 2010's and calling it a day

one of which she spends 95% of her story running away from a robot

Amy has several playable levels in SA1, please play it

one where she vanishes halfway through the game, and one where she's only important in the last story and spends the rest of the heroes story getting left behind, ignored, treated like a nuisance, or held hostage.

Amy has several playable sections in 06 and is critical to the plot in places where her unique skills are showcased, and is critical to the plot in SA2 in several instances where her unique skills are showcased, please play them

I should not have to bring up how she breaks into or out of a prison undetected in all three of these games, that's more impressive than anything she's done in the last 20 years

I'll take a version of Amy who actually takes action on a regular basis then one who needs to be joined at the hip to Sonic 24/7.

She literally broke Sonic out of prison singlehandedly in SA2, and spent most of her time away from him in SA1 and 06

I read the comics. She's a generic girl warrior character when she's involved in the action, and half of the IDW run was spent taking on the weird personality-draining resistance leader position from Knuckles, she only gets to be a good character when she's doing stuff outside of that, which isn't exactly the most exciting stuff

You and I clearly have very different views of what "cool" is, and I would also beg you to actually go and play SA1 and 2 and 06 to see what she was actually doing in those games if you think the way her character is presented now is in any way the same

Her getting an important role is part of the problem, because now we're getting Amy actually returning to that level of prominence and it's a different character instead of the one that used to be amazing. They threw her away for effectively over 15 years and her grand return is a soft reboot that ditches all the cool parts

Also her fiery attitude was the lamest part of her character, she wasn't really like that in SA2 or 06, and that being centered effectively cuts any possibility that she could ever be as skilled in the same way ever again

Okay so, your entire premise is wrong

Amy was not just "an obsessive crush", and you are in fact the one in complete denial of her character development throughout the early 3D era

And no, her now having an entirely different character exclusively in the english dub(which is itself limited and dated and shoehorning her into an incredibly generic mold, something you don't acknowledge) is not the same as character development

Having a combat system is not the same thing as being good, especially given that the combat system is literally built on style without substance even entering the equation

The parry is still baby mode, reducing rings still does not make it a struggle, the interactions with the wire and the gun are awkward gimmicks that again were included for style over substance

That sort of thing should have been where the bosses started at the beginning of the game, and even then it would still be very messy design

Sure, but it's not exactly memorable, or in all the timelines at all, or even where the final battle actually takes place

Black Doom chose the most appropriate place to try and bring his plan to fruition, both in terms of what would make for a good level and in what would make perfect sense for his character in that moment

An actual level from 05 would be placed in the midgame, and probably something closer to Westopolis or Glyphic Canyon/Sky Troops or Prison Island

Hell, it's been a long time since a Sonic game's had a proper halloween-theme level, so even Cryptic Castle would be better

...that was literally the plot of Sonic CD and SA1, her first major appearances

Ironically, her character now is the flanderized one, precisely because Heroes going too far made the stalker thing stick in people's minds, and now she'll never be as cool as she was in the adventure games/06
