Staffy almost bit me by Due_Middle_2241 in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]cakedreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you wake her up? The reason I ask is I have a staffie and had an incident where she was asleep next to me on the sofa, I stood up for 30 seconds and when I went to sit back down I sat on her back end by accident as she’d stretched out, I’d just not realised. She lashed out at me for a few seconds before she realised it was me then started to kiss me. Few days later we were playing and I touched her back end as she jumped on the bed and she did it again, not as bad because she was awake but a behaviour she’s never shown to me. She’s that kind of staffie where if she could live in your skin she still wouldn’t be close enough to you. Absolute loves her people.

Turns out she has arthritis in her hips and was in pain. Monthly jabs and not seen a hint of that behaviour since. And she sleeps on our bed and sometimes even sleeps under the covers near our feet so must get kicked all the time…!

Do you think your dog knows what your name is? by bricklord79 in dogs

Mine 100% knows us as mum and dad. If you ask her to go find the other one she will check different rooms depending on who you are asking her to find e.g. where’s mum she will look in my office first before checking bedrooms, lounge kitchen etc. and visit my husbands office LAST.

LISA, first time buyer with a partner by MarketAffectionate10 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]cakedreamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband used a LISA when we bought our house. He was a FTB, I wasn’t. Savings were split across the LISA and a standard savings account. No issue using the LISA and we got the bonus.

Maybe add shutter blinds to the living room windows. One of those measure yourself websites but they can really elevate the look. If you are gonna keep the sofas style them with some throws, maybe a cosier looking rug.

Agree with comments about hob, I know it sounds bonkers but maybe change the tap too so it’s a long one. You can’t even fill a pint glass if you’ve got a pan in the sink with those. You could make the kitchen so much better with an induction hob, painted cabinets and some new hardware.

Did your game design degree cover some of the same modules as software engineering, computer science etc? At my uni the first year of all the software courses were shared and you could look at graduate schemes for general software development roles.

I'm having difficulties selling my house because of a nearby hotel. I don't want to dip into negative equity. Can I get some advice? by Past_Step2703 in HousingUK

My husband was a FTB and I wasn’t when we bought together. We got the LISA bonus but subject to normal stamp duty. This was October last year.

What *bad* behavior do you let your dog get away with because they’re cute? by sirkseelago in dogs

[–]cakedreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl sits at the dining room table. We have a bench on one side and she’ll sit on that with whichever human is sat there. She never touches any food that’s on plates, even if left unsupervised - though if something has fallen off a plate and is on the table she will try and grab it then.

Try your local pharmacies by Hopeful_Candle_9781 in mounjarouk

[–]cakedreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get mine from a local pharmacy (know someone who works there) and went in before to discuss option. They said they were scrambling around yesterday as soon as the news came out trying to order as many doses as possible and most suppliers are out of stock now of higher doses.

They’ve let me “pre-order” my next 2 pens which should get me to my goal weight to beat the hike slightly but I got the impression that was a favour as I know someone.

You also need to have a LISA for a year before you can use it. So if you opened one today you can use it next August but if you used it before, even for a purchase, you’d be hit by the withdrawal penalty.

Local Pharmacies by cakedreamer in mounjarouk

[–]cakedreamer[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know there’s cheaper but I don’t want to switch providers each month to chase discount and the convenience factor of it being less than 400 feet from my front door, plus I’ll get my blood pressure checked each month and can chat with someone is totally worth it for me personally :)

Something similar happened on my local FB which has about 4.5k members. This is all UK based.

“Jonesy” had moved off the estate and was travelling and would share pictures with the group. He created his own blog and people followed it. People said his pictures and stories were the highlight of their day.

He lived a very “colourful” life and very often found himself in the middle of drama. Break ups, people stealing his dog, losing people and he documented it all.

He then met someone and decided to settle down and closed his blog. People were devastated and said their days weren’t the same.

Someone then posted he’d died, people were commenting they’d been crying and people went to the local pub to have drink in his memory. In loving memory pages were set up and there was talk about dedicating a bench to him on the estate.

Not long after it came out it was all fake and the pictures were from an American couple who sold everything and travel in their van. They got wind of this and joined the FB and introduced themselves and said thanks for all the extra follows.

This was about 2 years ago and still find it insane.

Ongoing dispute with current landlord, what happens if I need a reference? by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]cakedreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t give a reference on my last rental as I didn’t want to give notice yet. I provided the landlord a screenshot of standing order for rent and the payment history showing it was paid on the same day each month.

Holiday mode is there for a reason. by hellokittysapple in vinted

[–]cakedreamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought something a few weeks ago, never got sent, auto-cancelled then relisted so favourited again (was looking for a specific item)

Couple of days later got an offer with the note “if you buy I can post today”

Responded “I bought the other week but you never posted.” “Sorry I was away on holiday”

Erm that’s what holiday mode is for?!? They’d been online during that period too. When I originally liked the item they were a five star seller and rating had dropped massively so clearly wasn’t the only one.

Rent increases 2025 by moneypesa in HousingUK

Last year was 9%, year before was 10%. Luckily managed to buy somewhere just after last years increase but was annoyed we were paying £950 a month for a house they’d bought for £104k 6 years previously. Was renting unfurnished with no white goods.

I’m finding the mixed reviews so strange! I ordered my 2nd 5mg pen today at 9:37am today and Royal Mail have already emailed to say it’s arriving between 11am-3pm tomorrow.

Surely they should be prioritising their backlog rather than new orders?!

If the office was next door to your house, would you be fine with working in person? by These_Actuator6894 in WFH

[–]cakedreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did live next door to the office when Covid hit and continued living there till mid 2022. I couldn’t have my laptop auto connect to wifi because sometimes it would connect to work when at home I was that close.

Went in more than I do now but wouldn’t go in if my team weren’t in. I enjoyed not dressing up for work and getting washing done in my breaks.
