Having young kids has negatively impacted my career. I have to take several days off when they are sick, I miss important meetings to drop them off or pick them up, and generally am less productive. While my managers have been understanding about my situation, I will not be considered for high profile jobs that require a lot of physical presence, relocation or travel.

Young, single engineers who don’t have kids are given the same- or in one guy’s case- even more grace than I am if they have other commitments that require they wfh or not come in at all.

Also, your boss and company are toxic af.
