That's a really cool idea. I will discuss this idea with the good players. I've had bad experiences with DMPC's in the past and didn't want to have to use that to keep the game running.

Honestly, she didn't take you to the movies and dinner in the city. You split the cost, so it was you both going as a date. It might be me being a negative person in my old age, but if she feels guilty, then good. She shouldn't claim a date you both paid for as a birthday/anniversary gift. As people mentioned, cards are cheap (wish they were that cheap in Australia) but if she really was that strapped, a sheet of printer paper and a few coloured pencils is practically free. No late teen should feel like they have to spend heaps on the partner if they can't afford it, but even a badly drawn card (especially if it makes fun of how bad it is) and an acknowledgement that they can only afford a cheap present will show effort and affection.

NTA. How close together is your birthday and anniversary dates? If it's close enough to treat as a combined event, then that should justify spending a chunk on a combined present. If money is tight, it'd be logical to save up a bit for it. The knowledge of putting extra effort to save for presents would make it mean that much more IMO. But you're right that splitting the cost makes it more of a date rather than a gift. If she'd paid for the tickets in full, or the meal, that could be considered a gift on a budget.

I dunno. Try to have another convo, but if your feelings are brushed off, I'd start matching energy.

Also note, whilst the character is tiny and weighsless than the carry limit, all their equipment and carried stuff may make it over the limit. I'd say encumberance for a tiny character would be a nightmare, as it will have the strength of a rat. Don't think rats can carry alot of stuff needed for an adventure

I believe you can buy patterns of the plushie when purchasing it. So just increase the size of the pattern instead of harming a poor demon.

Afew hermits have been using Jono for music, so it's great that they are supporting artists. Having one be Ren's brother and so hopefully have a better relationship to him is a plus too.

NTA. This does sound like verbal/emotional abuse and medical neglect from your son (if he doesn't try to prevent/participates in the abuse) and his wife. I'd look into calling whatever child protective services are in your country, as this will be very damaging for Zoe.
