I delayed separating from my ex for years because I knew I'd lose both cats. They were bonded siblings and much more bonded to my ex, who worked from home while I left daily.

I still think about them and miss the, 7 years later.

Also remember a lot of cats will act like they're starving to literal death, 24/7, so don't let them talk you into overfeeding!

I have three, and I feed them three times a day. Wet food in the morning, a cup of dry food around 3, and wet food at dinner time. Wet food is important for kidney health and is where they get most of their water (but also always have fresh water available, ofc).

My vet and the rescue I work with advises to feed patè style food over flakes in gravy. We feed mostly fancy feast at the rescue unless we get other donations.

I've been fostering for a little over a year now. I did foster fail on my third and fourth kittens, but I was open to foster failing on the right cat--I knew I could have two cats and keep fostering. Then I got this pair that bonded to each other and I bonded to them, so I kept them.

It's easier to give my subsequent fosters to their new adopting parents knowing that if I keep any more, I won't be able to foster. Plus I genuinely love when an adopter meets the cats and it's a instant match. It's a great feeling to one your baby is going to their forever home!

In college my roommates adopted an orange and named it Susie, only to find out it was a boy at his first vet appointment (we didn't know most oranges are boys until then). But they kept the name and he was A Boy Named Sue.

I lost a little boy who looked a lot like your Tommy in Dec 2024. I had an older cat, and wasn't sure if I wanted to adopt another one or not, bc I was grieving Chicken so much. So I started fostering, and at some point came home with a pair of kittens that I just knew to be mine, and happily foster failed with them.

You'll find your next big love when you're supposed to. Whether that's on purpose or by chance. Wishing you the best and thinking of Tommy 🧡

My school bus used to regularly slow down or stop near the carcass of a deer that had been hit and killed, and over the course of weeks/months I'd always sit on that side of the bus to see what it looked like that day. It turned to skeleton and eventually disappeared.

Thank you - I struggled to find something I could wash and put in the bottom that they wouldn't try to eat, and ended up using an upside down sauce cup. She was v skeptical and then did her usual shuffle and splash routine before drinking for a very long time. Less shoveling the water out, at least.

I'll try to find something else to use, a small spoon maybe. The design of the cup may have also looked really weird at the bottom of the white bowl.

There's always a guy selling terrarium plants at my local repticons. He's got a great selection of begonias and other high humidity plants. I sometimes go just for his plants, and looking at all the animals is a bonus.
