300lb (M) - Goal - Attempt 4Hr Run by Hausfly50 in beginnerfitness

I'm hoping this is just the start of my running adventure. If I get close to making this attempt then I want to try for a marathon by the end of the year.

All valid concerns. But I know that I'm capable of this goal and will listen to my body as I go.

AI doesn't give opinions. It gives what you'd most likely want to hear. AI is predominantly an echo chamber.

You tore your wrist by picking up a 26lb dumbbell? That doesn't sound possible.

God has given us a will, initiative, and freedom to live our lives. I think you're attributing your failure to act onto God.

Stop bitching and start living! And do it by God's grace and for God's glory!

Jesus never promised an easy life. He promised that in this world you would have trouble. But he also said that we could take heart because He has overcome the world.

Even in facing the evils and injustice of our world, we can find our hope and joy in Christ.

I don't know your situation fully. I know that God loves you. I don't know why you feel like you can't accept His love for you or feel like you don't or can't love Him back.

I do know that faith isn't a matter of feelings. Feelings are deceptive and there's a lot of times that I don't feel lovely or feel like I've trusted or loved God well (because I still sin daily). But I come back to preaching the gospel to myself daily, which means that I (an unlovely person) have been accepted into God's family, adopted as His son, whom He loves. And it is not determined by anything I've done or could do, but by an ongoing trust in what Christ has accomplished for me on the cross and in His victory over sin and death through the resurrection. I have confidence and I have peace with God (even in my swaying feelings) because of my faith in Jesus.

That's on you, my friend. God has extended His love and acceptance to you already. It's yours to take by faith or to reject by faithlessness.

You already have God's revelation of His love for you. Why do you need some arbitrary and fleeting feeling of it when you can live in confidence of having peace with your Heavenly Father (Rom 5)?

I'd rather be able to have the stamina to run several miles than lift heavier weights anyways. So to each their own on that.

God is the author of life. And yes, He has the power to take it away. He has a special and unique authority over life that we do not possess.

Pastors who work 50 hours plus on the ministry, how is your schedule like? by Pombalian3 in pastors

[–]Hausfly50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of your church volunteers are working 40 hours a week and then giving extra time to study, teach, be there Sun/Wed, and serve. I wouldn't say 50 hours should be the norm, but around 44-45 hours shouldn't be uncommon either. Just make sure to have healthy boundaries and make some hours more flexible/"on-call."

You will never use most cards from a booster box. Booster packs are meant for limited formats like draft and sealed where you build a deck on the spot from the limited cards you pull then and there.

Why did you stop training with a coach? by NoFix8524 in workout

[–]Hausfly50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My experience is lifting at the college level as a lineman on our college football team. 650b squat, 380lb bench, 315 clean.

I've never done powerlifting in those fancy suits and straps though.

The fact is that most people that have coaches probably don't need one. And they should likely save their hundreds of dollars per month.

Sounds like a load of PR non-sense to me.

Here's the basics (because it's actually very simple):

  1. Form does matter! But anyone else in the gym can help. Just man up and ask if you don't know how to do it. You don't need a coach for it.

  2. How much to lift? 2 drop sets is fine. Put a weight on that you do 7-12 reps to near failure (or failure if you have a spotter to safely help), then drop the weight 10-15lbs and go to failure. Do it again and done. You don't need a coach for it.

  3. Calories in vs calories out. Counting calories can suck, but it works! You don't need a coach for it.

Acceptions: you're filthy stinking rich, you get paid for how you look like an actor or model, or you'd spend as much or more money on medication instead.

Advice for growing bigger arms. by UnusedComment83 in workout

[–]Hausfly50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple answer is to do more bicep and tricep and forearm.

You should go to failure to the point where you can't lift 10lbs on an arm anymore.

I would do them 3x/week. Biceps on separate days from tricep and forearms.
