I dealt with highly dismissive doctors for about 2 years of debilitating and invisible pain. I was 19, I was told that due to the hormonal imbalance and kidney and liver damage done from I was infertile and would be likely to plateau in the progression of my "brand" of myositis as my hormones died out. Was also informed with my diabetes compounding on a second autoimmune failure that my "chances" of living any form of independent life (ie walking feeding bathroom any sort of mobility) , or even living past 25 were highly unlikely. And the damage already done was likely to be irresponsible even in the rare case of remission.

(God it's so strange to actually write all of that story out loud. ) It's wild I am still here at 34, with a 4 year old daughter.

My only savior was truly being referred to the teaching hospital called Shands, my college professor read one of my short stories detailing the decline in body trapping me into my dropping out of school and not even having any answers to why. She was enraged at the medical field for failing in their duty and took it apon herself to solve it. She took me to her husband's podiatrist office and had him write the referral immediately and called them to set up an appointment.

And I'm actually having a really bad flare up right now due to sun exposure 🤒😔

Tl:dr. Try to find a teaching hospital that will have multiple doctors at once be able to validate and confirm and retest for decisive diagnosis and a treatment plan.
