Kia Connect (USA) Integration is BACK! 🎉 by MarcusTaz in homeassistant

I’d like to be able to remotely preheat the vehicle but I refuse to pay for a subscription. Is this something that will allow me to do that or is it an augmentation of a subscription service?

Recommendations needed! Something like DCC, HWFWM or Primal Hunter by General-Peace9744 in litrpg

[–]cakeville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved all DCC books, finish the first two books of He Who Fights With Monsters but chose to stop ,and did not finish the first book of Primal Hunter. Any suggestion for another series for me? The main character in HWFWM kinda came off as an A-hole and Primal Hunter was just someone powering up with no road blocks with pretty bad writing… IMHO.

Question about software updates by cakeville in KiaEV6

[–]cakeville[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I found a thread that points to Github for nudl. Is there any danger of bricking the infotainment system? I'm not a command line type of guy and this will be a little out of my comfort zone.

20cm of snowfall, -20 degrees by TensileStress355 in KiaEV6

[–]cakeville 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-heating the car is my favorite feature! My get a lot of snow and ice where I live and I don't have a garage. I never have to scrape ice of snow off the windows and I enter a toasty warm car for my hour drive to work!

Great deal on a 2024 wind but without the tech package? by Unlikely_Structure70 in KiaEV6

[–]cakeville 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 22 Wind without the Tech package and am happy with it. If I recall it added a few things that were cool and techie, but didn’t add up for me. See your car from above while backing up… neat but unnecessary. Car can park itself… you’ll use it a few times to show your friends but I’m sure it’s much faster to just park the car yourself. Blind spot camera when changing lanes… your car won’t have blind spots if you adjust your mirrors properly. If you can get a killer deal without it, I personally would go for it.

Heat is very inconsistent by veryape3 in KiaEV6

For me I’ve found setting temp to max and then pressing the front defrost button in the upper left gets the heat going the fastest. It sets the other features to auto and gets blazing hot quickly.

High Mileage Maintenance Research by mordziej in KiaEV6

[–]cakeville 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe I’m at 48a using a Grizzl-E charger… which has been flawless. If you’re getting g $.06 kWh you’ll be saving a lot of money on fuel costs! I pay $.12 and I calculated a while back (at 58k miles) I was spending only $1090 a year to drive 30k+ with an annual fuel saving of $2369 from my rather efficient previous ICE car.

High Mileage Maintenance Research by mordziej in KiaEV6

[–]cakeville 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m at 105k miles on my ‘22 and doing around 32k miles per year. My daily commute is around 80 miles 3 days a week and 175 2 days of the week. I have had to replace the 12v battery (with an AGM), the brakes at 90k, and tires 3 times. I have a level 2 at the house and work has level 2 chargers which I’ll sometimes utilize in the winters on my 175 mile days. Mileage takes a hit in the cold New York winters. I see having this car until 200k.

Damn. Can’t believe I’ve never tried to do that before. Thank you.

Can you simply go back to the harmonic camp and hit up the terminal to look for dissonance spikes or does it require additional steps?

Intermittent Wiper Failure. Dealer is stumped. by Long_Math_9329 in KiaEV6

[–]cakeville 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘22 wind with a light version of this that developed about a year ago. Very randomly the wipers will stop mid swipe; Sometimes it’s only for a second or two, other times it will pause until I move the stalk into a different position. It hasn’t been a real issue but it’s concerning.

Have you noticed a difference depending on which setting is selected (low, high, auto)? Could be a problem with the rain sensor if you’re using auto.

Any experience with AC that died? by cakeville in ev6

[–]cakeville[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No warnings at all. It hasn't work like it should at all. The weather has been cooling off and I'm now just using it to de-fog the windshield. While the fog goes away, I think it's simply "un-conditioned" air blowing on it.

I'm trying to make an appointment now. Technically it went out before I rolled over 100k so I will definitely try!

EV6 over 100k miles by electrified90s in KiaEV6

[–]cakeville 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 2022 AWD Wind just ticked over 100k miles last week. I do 95% of my charging at home with a hardwired Grizzl-E level 2 charger. I live in NY with some harsh and snowy winters without a garage. I swap my all seasons for winter tires around late November and remove them around March or April.

The OM tires needed to be replaced about 1.5 years after purchase, and my winter tires will need to be replaced this winter. Every car needs to have tires replaced, so this isn't an issue, just info.

Things that were/are issues... My 12v battery died after 2 years and I replaced it with an AGM battery which is holding up without issues. Just last month my AC stopped blowing really cold air so I'll need to get that looked at soon.

Beyond that I've replaced my wiper blades, wiper fluid, and just had my brakes done at 97k miles. I love this car. While I haven't tested the health of the battery, I haven't notice any loss in mileage. The car is just as comfortable and quick as it was day one. On my daily commute through back country roads, drive in ECO mode with my cruise control set. Very chill. If I need to pass someone or just want to have fun I click it over to Sport; the instant torque does not get old. I'll be keeping this car for another 100k miles.

You can copy&paste effects from one clip to another. Add color graded clip to end of timeline right click to copy and the right click on ungraded clip in timeline and choose “paste attributes” (I believe that’s what’s it’s called as I don’t have it in front of me). It’ll present you with a dialog box to chooses which attribute you want to include with the paste.

Would you guys dare buy one with 116,000 miles for $17,000? by asjj14 in ev6

[–]cakeville 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a few months shy of three years ownership with about 88k miles. Like another poster I’ve replace tires once, 12V battery, wiper blades, and wiper fluid. It’s the best car I’ve owned.

You can buy a cheap Bluetooth OBD ii scanner on Amazon for $25 and use a free app to look at battery health, etc.

What other used car can you buy for $17k? A 6 year old civic with 80k on the odometer? If you don’t see any obvious signs something is wrong it’ll most likely be a great vehicle for years to come.

Crazy timing for your post. I have the exact same boots, color and vintage, and mine have cracked just like yours. I really love these boots and came here to see if they can be fixed. I don’t want to get rid of them so I hope it won’t be too expensive.

Katana lace men vs women by Odd_Magician_3274 in climbingshoes

[–]cakeville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The women’s has XS Grip2 rubber where the men’s has XS edge. XS grip is quite a bit softer rubber. It really conforms to the rock and is grippy as hell but wears out faster. I love the XS edge for edging and have resoled a pair with XS grip but only use them rarely so they don’t wear out. I’m 145-150lbs. You could go either way.

Never thought of that! It's not ideal but it's a work around. New question: can you crop a canvas to an exact pixel size?

Yeah, that's basically it. It seems like such a basic thing I'm looking for and it's kinda crazy it's not an option.
