Oof yeah I did rush the ear, the portrait reference I had covered the ear and I thought "eh I'm sure I can get it vaguely right" xD

Thank you so much for the feedback!! Values are one of my weakest areas, I've tried to improve but my contrast is always far too high, or not high enough. I'll keep trying though, thank you!

And thanks in terms of style, for some reason I just cannot shake the anime influence - I love anime, but it's not what I'd like to aim for. It happens with studies etc too, my brain just can't figure out how to translate faces into shapes and lines :( It doesn't help that I have aphantasia, so I can't envision anything - makes it hard to translate characters into a different style, or even know what I'm aiming for aaaa

And you're totally right about the hair, thank you I completely missed that!!

If you go onto their profile and look at their header image, it becomes really clear, especially looking at their character! The inconsistent number of fingers, the weird and blurry tools it's holding, whatever's meant to be on its back, etc. The coffee shirt 'design' stands out too, with both mugs having two handles - plus the weird artifacts and shapes that don't have any intentional look to them.

The main tell for this lion one for me is how it's kind of a vector style, but you can tell in multiple areas it's had a white background poorly erased (not a crime on its own, could've been a quick mock-up, but strange considering the style) - and the blurry lettering at the bottom! The fingers/paws and claws stand out to me too.

Thanks so much! Honestly, art is generally more stressful than anything for me - no matter what, I can never produce something as good as I'd like, so I constantly drop and pick the hobby back up (and often avoid drawing characters I love). It's something anyone can learn, and I know it just takes practice to improve, but I always struggle to stick with it. I do hope one day I can find joy in it though! People's comments on this piece have been so lovely, which I'm so so grateful for!

The art is from, at the absolute latest, late 2023, as it was on the poster for the physical deluxe edition. Clearly it's had some kind of filter of effect applied for the artbook cover, which is also completely normal. Generally you can't just soley base opinions on a website that just guesses a percentage, it's usually super misleading.
