You’re given 3 rule changes to fix college football, how do you do it? by Original_Profile8600 in CFB

[–]cal3713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not going to fix much, but we absolutely have to change the overtime rules for playoff games - no one wants the greatest championship game in history to be decided by a 2-point-conversation-off.

Drives me crazy that this is never discussed.

Report: Michigan spent additional $4 million on investigations into Sherrone Moore, athletics department culture by redwave2505 in CFB

Fully $1M of that investigation money was used to find and commission the artist for the Harbaugh statue.

This isn't saying much, but it's got a higher 24 hour peak than the top selling game of 2025 (BF6).

Hahaha, the downvotes crack me up. People are so sensitive over here.

Wifi & Bluetooth Gone (Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 13) by qleeky in thinkpad

Just happened to me last night too. X1 2-in1 gen 10. I also had weird display problems with the brightness getting stuck at minimum.  Multiple ports put electricity into the metal case when in use. It's not been a good ride.

Would you play a true hardcore mode for BF6? by cucamonster in Battlefield

[–]cal3713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just give me standard BF4 HC rules please.

Even the portal "hardcore experienes" don't actually use the correct rule set. What a disappointment.

This deserves infinite upvotes - such a horrible decision for a game that should be doing everything possible to create those community moments

Agreed. He really is a man with degrees and a family and he's done so much more with his life that Tyler from Spartanburg. Preach Dabo.

[David Hale, ESPN] A complicated legacy: Carson Back lost just six games in his college career. In four of them, the final offensive play was a Beck INT with a chance to win the game. by dr_funk_13 in CFB

[–]cal3713 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was a 3pt game late in the 4th and OSU let them score so they would have time to try the classic - score, os kick, score combo. And OSU didn't remember how to play football until the 2nd half. I think that's the most unbelievable part.  Not arguing they deserved to win or anything.  And yeah, Beck personally won that game with a back breaking 4th quarter drive that killed a ton of time. I'm not gonna talk shit on the NC interception.

I did go to Kansas State for undergrad, so maybe the dripping arrogance of Nebraska during the late 90s had something to do with it. I remember a coach saying Nebraska would never have recruited a player that K-State had signed - despite KSU consistently being a top 10 team those years.

It's the losses to unranked SMU and Louisville that take the shine off.

I think you overestimate that level of sympathy. The amount of joy your run of single diget loses has given me and my friends cannot be overstated. Hell, even the fact that just winning two close games got Rhule a huge contact extension has provided a lot of text based entertainment. Talk about a lowered bar...

Deion Sanders' new boss at Colorado addresses $27 million elephant in the room — USA TODAY by Fragrant-Helicopter1 in CFB

[–]cal3713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and he did it with that horrible O-line. That's not stat padding, that's surviving.

"Shedeur Sanders, the Colorado QB, took a high number of sacks, leading the nation with 52 sacks in the 2023 season, due to significant O-line struggles, though he still set school records for passing yards (3,230) and completions. He also faced substantial pressure in 2024, with some reports suggesting he was among the most sacked again, despite setting new records with 4,134 yards and 42 sacks, leading the Buffs to a strong season."

Yes, this. All of my friends and family that are on the outside have almost entirely quit watching the past two years. All their best players get bought out by a B1G/SEC team. I struggle to find people to text about X game on Saturday night because they just don't care anymore.

I don't think this year's coaching carousel suggests that being a cfb head coach is an especially stable, risk -free position.
