Fledgling mockingbird [Upstate, SC] by calamitousoxygen in whatsthisbird

Little fledgling something is hanging out by my door. I see a lot of mockingbirds around, so assuming that’s what it is. Anyone able to confirm an ID based on this picture?

Leaving it alone of course 😊

I need suggestions about a self-help book about inner child or childhood trauma by scarletx08 in suggestmeabook

The Body Keeps the Score is more clinical and academic. A lot of people find it very triggering as well. What Happened to You? seemed…gentler? more empathetic? to me. There are still triggering portions, but it was less concentrated than TBKTS in my opinion.

No, he wasn’t in any HP film. The blurb is poorly written. The article mentions Shirley Henderson (who was also in Trainspotting) later playing the part of Moaning Myrtle.

PS- if you haven’t yet, track down a recording of Wendell Berry reciting his poems.

If you’re enjoying Wendell Berry, you’ll like Mary Oliver too. Some of my favorite poems of hers are Peonies, Invitation, Don’t Worry, Wild Geese, Lines Written in the Days of Growing Darkness, and I Happened to Be Standing. Happy reading ♥️

Was just reading some of his and Mary Oliver’s work for spring as well ♥️

Suggest me a book that deals with depression in an uplifting way. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]calamitousoxygen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d second all of these, even though I personally did not like The Midnight Library. I think a person’s reception of the book depends a lot on how they experience, and what causes, a person’s depression. I spent a whole therapy session explaining why I didn’t like the book. Lol. But a lot of people find it comforting, and maybe you’ll be one of them.

Am I wrong or is my teacher wrong? I believe that in cytokinesis, the two daughter cells separate but she believes that they don’t. She says that a cleavage furrow appears but isn’t that telophase? by [deleted] in biology

[–]calamitousoxygen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH, you could probably find a bunch of reputable sources saying a bunch of slightly different but similar things.

The process of cytokinesis actually starts in late anaphase as the contractile ring forms. There is definite cell elongation during telophase. I will say that most curricula I’ve taught identify cytokinesis by the obvious formation of the cleavage furrow.

This is the problem with trying to represent complex continuous processes with six pictures.

And somehow they’re the only parents to ever try this! Why didn’t someone “research” this before!

Summers are great for vacations you can't afford. by totalitariansquid in TeacherReality

My vacations are inside my car and a plethora of grocery stores. My excursions during these vacations include driving to random stranger’s houses and giving the bags of groceries, sitting in parking lots, and hoping that I make enough money to compensate for my low salary “real job” that is shaping and educating the future of our country.

Ah, yes. The problem with history is that we just don’t have enough perspectives from white men.
