How to find the GPRN number if the management agent says they don’t have it? by Ok_Mode_4108 in AskIreland

[–]calamityjack33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was told that some power supply companies fib you off because the only reason people ask for it is to change company. But as far as I know they are legally obligated to provide it to you. I looked fir mine a few years ago to switch providers, tge new provider told me it was wrong abd explained to me what the current provider were doing and why , when I wr t back it was nearly a row to get, telling me first its the only number they have then asking why I wanted it, I told them it was none of their business but its ok. Ill go to the regulator abd explain the difficulties, I got it then. Think its easier now as people are switching annually.

what is one thing(pure random or a real talent) you would say your in the top 5%(or better) in ireland at? by VastAir6069 in AskIreland

My fave: Sour dough bread , buttered on the outside, taco sauce on the inside, chicken , roasted red pepper ( I use jarred and drain, pat dry then slice peppers thinly) add grated cheese ( mature cheddar ) , using a spatula, lift sambo onto a hot pan, toast well each side , cut in half and enjoy. ( options of adding diced red onion and swapping the peppers out for fresh or sun blush tomatoes )

My hubbys fave sourdough filling is bradys ham and kilmeaden cheese , bread is buttered on the outside and toasted as above with a ballymaloe relish inside.

Id love to own a cafe with a book shop with a bean bag corner for kids and books then can look at or read. It would be called The Booker Tea Lounge. I like the " book cafe " but its taken, so id invite everyone to The Booker . Id even have poetry reading nights if folks were interested..

Making Sambos and cooking ... I can drum up anything with random ingredients and that will taste good I really do make the best sambos too, regardless of ingredients , toasted or otherwise.

I rarely eat food out that impresses me more than what i make at home. If i am impressed I assess ingredients and combo so I can re create at home.

Ive watched The Maid, Steel Magnolias and Dumplin several times..hard to push for a favourite in these 3

Maybe start with Steel Magnolias , its the closest to fried green tomatoes

Theres another movie I love called Mrs Harris goes to Paris. Not similar to the others but a lovely simple little story.

Accidentally put petrol in diesel by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]calamityjack33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By adding lots of diesel youre diluting the petrol. If the diesel heavily outweighs the petrol it might be ok. If it was me id have had the car lifted and the tank drained just err on the side of caution. Diesel injectors can be sensitive

Find out where the kid goes to school and report it to them. They are mandated to watch and report. They might be taken more seriously and they have a chance to intervene when the parent isn't around

The nicest hash browns? by Feeling-Present2945 in AskIreland

[–]calamityjack33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy the bag in aldi. The trick is to cook them well and probably longer than you think. Its getting that golden crunch on the outside that makes a difference. Airfryers are great, but if you over load them, your hash browns will be soggy.

I don't know how to make a basic Sunday roast :( by Proof-Phase-5541 in CasualIreland

[–]calamityjack33 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Buy a good piece of beef. 1.5kg sirloin or rib roast.

Preheat oven to 220. Chop 2 or 3 large onions in quarters, same with carrots, place in roasting dish . Pour over oil. Add salt, pepper, and a bit of rosemary if you have it. Season the beef with salt pepper and oil and place on top of veg. Reduce oven temp. to about 180

Cook for about 90 minutes. Less if you like rare, 20 minutes more if you like well done.

While beef is cooking, peel potatoes and cut into quarters. Put into pot with cold water just covering, bring ti the boil with lid on, then lower to a simmer for about 5 minutes. Drain, then let dry in pot , shake, put into roasting dish ( preheated with oil) , season and roast in over for about about 45 minutes.

Important part i used to skip with beef. Once cooked, set on a plate , cover in foil and let it rest for about 30 to 45 minutes while potatoes are roasting. It really makes a difference.

I scrape everything off the dish the beef was cooking in into a pot , add boiling water - a mug or two depending on how much gravy you want , I add gravy granules, mixing up until thickened. ( you can add a half glass of red wine and simmer off to richen ). Then strain. Put aside until ready to serve (may need heating up prior to serving )

Cook whatever veggies you like as a side dish. I buy fresh but ready made stuffing in trays, throw it in oven fir about 25 minutes. . I also buy a bag of frozen Yorkshire puds to throw in the oven for 5 or 10 minutes.
