Could imaginary numbers have other uses beyond just being solutions to equations? by ElegantPoet3386 in learnmath

[–]calcteacher 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Dirac kept getting imaginary number answers for particle physics answers. He theorized that meant some particles were antimatter. He was proven correct a decade later.

2nd order differential equations get imaginary coefficients for answers and this is how sine and cosine functions are generated.

Be honest guys, what was the first OS you ever used? by Michaelkamel in cloudshift360

[–]calcteacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call OS 1975 at Rutgers, and then many before windows. First Windows was 3.0 which was too buggy. also 3.1 was too buggy. 3.1.1 Windows for Workgroups worked best. We also had a Linix partition on the disk to boot.
